In early 2022, the temporary closure of a single infant formula manufacturing facility triggered one of the most significant food shortages in our country's modern history, leaving almost half of formula-using parents in the US without sole-source nutrition for their babies. Wondering how our country's formula supply chain could be so vulnerable to such catastrophic disruptions? Because of its reliance on so few infant formula manufacturers and innovators. Until ByHeart, every new US-made infant formula brand that had entered the market in the last 15 years had used one contract manufacturer. But we know that in order to make a better formula, you have to change how you "everything" about formula—including manufacturing. So we did just that. In 2016, we began working with leading breast milk scientists and started building an infant formula from the ground up. From globally sourcing the highest-quality ingredients to conducting the largest clinical trial by a new infant formula brand in 25 years, to building three of our own factories—we've worked to create a new and innovative infant formula that’s unlike any other made in the US*. Through our commitment to innovation and ownership, we're playing our part in preventing a devastating shortage from happening again. What we care about most is showing up for parents in the way they need us—through high-quality, next-generation, reliable nutrition for their babies. Our Co-Founder and CEO Ron Belldegrun penned an op-ed for Entrepreneur Media, detailing his perspective on how we can continue to drive the industry forward. Head to the link to read the full op-ed https://lnkd.in/eMKTK3cN *with globally sourced ingredients.
