Naoitech had the opportunity to attend Smart City Expo 2024. The expo allowed us to connect with tech companies, experts, policymakers, and other stakeholders involved in urban development. We also learned about the latest AI advancements in city management, public safety, and sustainable development. As cities continue to face growing challenges, the expo provided us with the opportunity to understand those challenges so we can create solutions to solve social pressing issues which is one of the missions of Naoitech. #Naoitech #Smartcities #AIforsocialgood

🌟 Reflecting on an Incredible Journey 🌟 Yesterday marked the end of my 6-month journey with TNW, an experience that has profoundly shaped my understanding of the future of tech. During this time, I delved into areas like sustainability, fintech, and IoT development, gaining invaluable insights that I am eager to carry forward. One of the highlights of my time at TNW was being part of the TNW Conference 2024, where I had the privilege of managing the VIP Village desk. This role allowed me to meet some truly inspiring individuals and companies, including George Agathangelou and Jamie Turner, who are pioneering IPMB, a groundbreaking web3 startup interconnecting gold mining and tokenisation. The conference also featured insightful speeches from industry leaders like Rahel de Vriend on robotics and Michael Musandu on securing VC funding. A particularly enriching part of my journey was the mentoring sessions with Zach Butler, Director of TNW Events. His guidance on personal branding and forward-looking vision has been transformative. Key takeaways include: 1. Building Your Personal Brand: Integrate your personality into your work environment to start building a long-term personal brand. 2. Understanding Your Business Role: Determine whether you are more of a product or people person. Reflect on this in the context of Google’s Individual Contributor vision to find where your true interests lie. I am incredibly grateful for this experience and excited about the future. Small Island Developing States (SIDS) are increasingly vulnerable to natural disasters but also to social, economic and environmental shocks. On the Southeast coast of Mauritius, the overlapping impacts of an oil spill and the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-2021 profoundly altered the socio-economic fabric of the region and still hinder the regeneration of local socio-ecosystems. To better anticipate and recover from these events, Pricila IRANAH will discuss the different strategies and approaches we develop at the Indian Ocean Islands Foundation to build resilience for island coastal zones, especially through the valorisation of ancestral, traditional and modern practices.

Next week, on May 23, Giga Maps will be launched in Barcelona. Why is that important? One third of humanity – or 2.6 billion people – still remain offline. They have no access to the #internet. This means millions and millions of #children have fewer opportunities to access information, study, and develop their talents. Not surprisingly, the majority of them live in countries with limited resources for investing in digital infrastructure. Together, UNICEF and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) created Giga: a global initiative to connect every school to the internet by 2030. Giga Maps is their crucial, open-source tool. Giga uses machine learning to scan satellite images and identify schools and the level of connectivity. This provides governments with data about every school and helps them design policies and allocate resources to improve the connectivity where needed most. #internetforall #machinelearning #opensource #equalopportunities
