I sit on the same floor of the office with 75+ other co-workers. Depending on the day, I'll only speak to people in my department... Sad but true. However, One of the fruits I've seen from a social recognition process/program is cross-department collaboration. Frequently, I know what's happening on the security team, product and development team, Customer success team... etc. More collaboration --> More moments for recognition = more cohesive culture

When I started my journey three years ago at a branding-performance agency, my boss said, “We’re not a family, we are a team.” I was like, “Yes, that’s what I’m looking for!” While the idea of a workplace family sounds nice, we need to understand that teams and families serve different purposes. Emotions and love can sometimes hold back growth. On the other hand, shared goals, clear roles, and mutual respect are what make a team stronger and more effective.
