On a previous episode, our guest Candice Manning, NAAEI Faculty shared her knowledge on navigating the job market, especially for minority women.
Key takeaways:
✅ Diverse Industry Exposure: Candice emphasizes the importance of bringing in various industry professionals, like Neyda Urias, SHRM-CP, who provides her students with a well-rounded introduction to property management.
✅ Real Job Opportunities: Beyond classroom learning, Candice ensures students connect with employers who can offer real job opportunities, turning education into tangible career paths.
✅ Supporting Minority Women: As a minority woman herself, Candice focuses on helping minority women navigate their careers by addressing essential soft skills and unwritten rules that can be pivotal in their professional journeys.
✅ Unspoken Hiring Rules: Candice sheds light on the often unspoken rules that can prevent candidates from getting hired or promoted. She believes in transparency, ensuring her students understand what might be holding them back.

Besides looking and being fabulous as she is 😍 Joyce shared her insight into the recruitment industry.
And she says she doesn't do well in front of the cameras. Well, we say she did an amazing job. She's probably cringing as she's reading and watching this but we're proud of her and think she was the right woman for this job.
As someone with a long career in hospitality and recruitment too, she truly understands the importance of #worklifebalance and investing in #employeedevelopment.
#employeerecognition doesn't cost a thing. Rehiring does.

Why do HR professionals often hesitate to reveal their own humanity?
As a recruiter, I find that my most meaningful connections occur during my toughest days—those moments when my kids are creating chaos in the background or when I make a cringe-worthy typo that highlights my lack of sleep and caffeine. Just recently, I had one of my best days at work while handling a situation where my son unexpectedly projectile vomited on me during a company-wide Zoom call. Despite my "mommy chaos", I managed to double annual my billing in the past month.
HR colleagues, remember that our role is all about connecting with and understanding people. It’s perfectly fine to embrace your own humanity in the process. In fact, you may find your performance improves with a little less "perfection"...
