Some things stay with you , for how long I don't know but this one did. Lately, I’ve been reading The Almanack of Naval Ravikant, and one profound idea stood out: "Wealth isn’t about money; it’s about freedom." Wealth is actually nothing but having a sense of control over your time . This simple yet powerful insight completely shifted my perspective on money and what it truly means to be wealthy. It’s not just about accumulating riches; it’s about having the freedom to live life on your own terms. #navalravikanth #hardwork #wealth

Your Beach Access to San Onofre State Park is at Risk – Sign the Petition Now! 👏 San Onofre State Beach is a treasured natural resource for millions of people from across Southern California and beyond. Since 1971, California has leased the 6.5-mile shoreline as a state park from the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton for the sweetheart deal of $1 for the duration of the 50-year lease. That lease will expire on August 31 of this year and must meet new federal regulations that demand fair market value. The Surfrider Foundation appreciates and applauds the past and present leadership of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton and California State Parks for their dedication to preserving this unique stretch of undeveloped coastline and their ongoing commitment to maintaining public access at San Onofre State Beach. While all parties involved in the lease renewal have publicly committed to maintaining public access, a federal statute (10 U.S. Code § 2667) now mandates fair market value for military land leases. This requirement, coupled with federal bureaucracy, could create complications despite the best of intentions. That’s why Surfrider is working with the San Onofre Parks Foundation and local stakeholders to protect the public’s ability to access and enjoy this iconic shoreline, as well as the long-term preservation and natural resilience of San Onofre State Beach. Take action now to ensure that San Onofre State Beach continues to be accessible to all for generations to come. https://hubs.la/Q02vrsww0 #SaveSanO #SurfriderFoundation #TheOceanNeedsMoreFriends

Memorial Day offers another opportunity to remember more than 81,000 Americans still missing in action from US wars/conflicts (WWII through the Gulf wars). With little media care or attention, the high MIA count surprises many people with realization that each individual in that total had a personal life with hopes, plans and dreams. Yet, each one left the comfort of home, neighborhood and loved ones to defend our homeland and shared values at great personal sacrifice. As I can personally attest, POW/MIA torment runs deep, touches many, and never goes away. Demographic research and basic practical assumptions allow us to reasonably grant that approximately 1.4 million additional people (family/friends) of those 81,000 MIAs have suffered or continue to suffer personal anguish, anxiety, uncertainty, and great pain unknowing the fate. Honoring a foundational US military value that we leave no American behind, there are focused organizations working every day to locate, identify and recover our MIAs. Two of those groups: Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency https://lnkd.in/gVzAc8JA, and, ‘Project Recover’ https://lnkd.in/gQiBF3G7

One of the youngest members of Captain Robert F. Scott’s scientific Terra Nova Expedition into Antarctica (1910-1912) was twenty-four-year-old Asbury Cherry-Gerrard. In his memoir, The Worst Journey in the World (1922), he shares the hellacious trials of endurance suffered by expedition members that resulted in the death of five men, including Scott: long days of utter darkness, temperature of -70°F, lack of food, countless hours pulling sleds for miles across lunar landscapes where an ice sheet collapse could send one hurtling deep to a black end, and blizzards with 100-mph winds. Those are only a few of the hardships the crew endured regularly. Asbury speaks at length of frostbite, snow blindness, exhaustion, disorientation in the barren wilderness, clothes freezing solid within fifteen seconds of exiting his sleeping bag, and hunger. Recalling one particularly brutal journey across the ice, Asbury states: I for one had come to that point of suffering at which I did not really care if only I could die without much pain. They talk of the heroism of the dying – they little know – it would be so easy to die, a dose of morphia, a friendly crevasse, and blissful sleep. The trouble is to go on.[1] Our trying life storms can make death appear as the easy way out or the assured means of stopping the pain. Furthermore, the many often-expressed Christian encouragements to someone experiencing such miseries are little more than shallow platitudes, such as these: "You can overcome all things through Christ who strengthens." "God gives grace sufficient to overcome the trial." "The Lord will never leave you nor forsake you."
