Hi All, This is really hard to say. But after 11 years of working at Virgin Galactic, I have to say goodbye. In 2012, my husband got a job at Edwards AFB. Needless to say I was hesitant because I did not want to leave the Ventura area for the high desert. But as we drove through Mojave to our new home, I saw a sign that was slightly faded from the Mojave sun. The sign said “Welcome to Mojave, Home of SpaceShipOne”. I thought SpaceShipOne? Oh that's Richard Branson’s project. I heard about that a long time ago. I was so excited and after we got settled in, I wanted to get a job, any job, working for his company. After applying and getting a call back, I ended up with a better job than I applied for. Here I am, 11 years later, several positions and promotions under my belt, I will be saying my goodbyes on April 1st (no joke). My position has gone from working remote after 4 years, to hybrid going in to work 3 days a week, which will not work for me since I am in Ohio and my work location is in California. I understand it was a business decision, but I must say it is pretty hard for me. VG has been 11 years of excitement and keeping me on my toes. I've had some bumps and bruises along the way but the fun times outweighed the bad. I mean, I got to witness Richard fulfill his dream of going to space and we made history! This was why I wanted to work for the company, the mission of making space accessible to all, but the people and the job opportunities made me stay. Getting a space program up and running was/is not for the faint of heart. I have experience in Procurement as a Senior Procurement Specialist, Commodity Manager for Facilities, capital equipment, testing, and everything else not bolted to the aircraft/spacecraft. I also have experience and currently am a Sr. Contracts Administrator in the Legal Department working various contract administration and contract manager duties including reviewing and redlining supplier terms and conditions, statements of work, process improvement, contract review, template creation, etc. As I pursue my next opportunity, I will be looking to continue my career in Contracts, as a Senior Contracts Administrator but I am also open to opportunities as a Contracts Manager and/or a Commodity/Category Manager. I am highly motivated and excited about my new adventure and am hoping that my next place of business will also "keep me on my toes"...but in a good way. Pleasure of recruitment? I really like it and I have had privilege to do that recently more often than previously. I am also super happy how much attraction the open positions that I have posted have gained. Thanks for all the interested persons. While screening through the applications I have made observation that might help you once you will apply to a open position in the future. Here it comes; be specific! What I mean is that I see so much CVs that are very wake like "extensive experience on strategic planning..." or "full P&L responsibility..." or "enthusiastic entrepreneurial drive with proven track record"....nice words but if I have no idea if those experiences are from marine equipment manufacturing, banking, ship brokering, software development or automotive industry....your application will get quickly rejected. Not all company names World Wide are familiar for the recruiting manager so please specify in which business area / systems you have the experience from. E.g. "At company NN I was responsible to develop strategy related to thruster applications for tug boats World Wide" ....I would love to read something like this instead. What kind of experiences you have as a recruiting manager? Maybe you have some tips to share also?

Why you should hire production employees into a corporate role. As a 17 year employee of Worthington Enterprises, I can confirm that employees are our most important asset. In most cases, every effort is made to hire from within. However, sometimes there are highly qualified employees working in a production environment that for one reason or another, are afraid of taking that leap to submit their resume for a corporate role. As an HR or hiring manager, who else would you rather have than someone who knows your business? There are many capable and intelligent employees that intimately know your business. From receiving raw material, to production, inventory control, quality control, shipping, etc. These employees have an edge when it comes to knowledge of your products, and will have a head start when it comes to training on existing software systems. As someone who has taken advantage of these opportunities, I feel a personal gratitude.
