When it comes to helping others, people are opening their wallets—wide. Charitable giving topped $499.33 billion in 2022, up from $484.85 billion in 2021. There are approaches to philanthropy beyond the contribution of assets directly to a nonprofit. If you're planning to give to charity before the end of the year but need more time to decide where to ultimately direct those assets or would like to donate to a number of different causes over the course of many years, a donor advised fund (DAF) may be a good option to consider. Our #UKGivingReport highlighted an interesting trend: the typical donation amounts are often aligned with banknote denominations - £20, £10, and £5 being the most common. However, due to inflation, a charitable donation of £20 in 2017 would need to increase to more than £25 for charities to buy the same amount of goods and services in 2024. Happy #DAFDay! 💸 Wondering what a DAF is? A DAF (donor-advised fund) is a tax-advantaged charitable giving account. Gil L'italien has generously donated to Fistula Foundation since 2011. A few years ago, he decided to set up a DAF. This method of giving provides Gil with an efficient way to contribute to organizations he finds impactful, and offers him favorable tax benefits.
