Inspiration vs inspo. Fuorisalone, once a design industry-centric event continues to evolve (with mixed feelings). Milano lines grow longer every year, and the bar to dazzle is no easy feat to propel. It’s made me think a lot about the fine line we dance with how we design experiences & communication - and what we aim to achieve. Inspiration - sticks, it moves your mind, lasts longer. Inspo - highly visually appealing, eye candy high sugar content - but can feel fleeting. There was more inspo than inspiration at Milano design week. One inspiring one that moved me was the ever-curious Adam Stech, at the Drop City space showcased 3,000 images of “Elements” photographed around the World - doors that dazzled, railings that protected - windows that welcomed. Curated together - human creativity across decades. It was a symposium of design - it stuck. Inspiration achieved.

Why is it important to break our daily routine from time to time? Yesterday afternoon, I closed the office and visited the Vitra Design Museum with one of my daughters. The collection of colours and furniture designs was very inspiring, and I promised myself to do such things more frequently! Breaking the routine can fuel creative thoughts. It may open our brains to fresh concepts - solutions to existing problems. Our creativity can be ignited by doing things unfamiliar to our daily routine! Try to do something you never do! Similarly, we may require extra support during the early stages or significant transitions in our careers. This support can come from mentors, career consultants, or supportive colleagues, family, and leaders. 🍃 Adaptability - Bending, Not Breaking A tree’s ability to adapt to its environment is crucial for survival. In our careers, we must also be adaptable, ready to learn new skills and take on new challenges. In conclusion, our career growth is influenced by our foundational skills and experiences, our growth and development, the support we receive, and our adaptability, much like a tree’s growth is affected by its roots, environment, and support. The end goal, akin to a tree bearing fruit, is to achieve success in our careers — success that is defined not just by our position or salary but by our fulfilment and the positive impact we make.
