Black Dagger Military Hunt Club Inc, helping our military veterans and Gold Star families find healing outdoors. We are an all-volunteer nonprofit that does adaptive sports.
Greatly saddened to read that a precious life was taken from his family and friends too early.
Fact is that if a sudden cardiac arrest (#SCA) victim needs to be taken in an ambulance to a hospital, the chance of survival diminish exponentially.
Let’s increase the #chanceofsurvival by ensuring that every school, park, playing field, etc. install highly visible, immediately accessible, and always-working automated external defribilators (#AEDs) on their premise.
For a SCA victim to survive, shock from an AED is needed within 3 minutes. But, it typically takes an ambulance between 7-14 minutes to arrive.
At SaveHeart, we are on a mission to save lives by providing 24x7 AED Access, Awareness & Technology For... Everyone, Anywhere, Anytime!
Our team is dedicated to sharing knowledge and delivering advanced connected technology to enable people to save others from SCA.

I'm about to resurrect your faith in humanity. If you're going to watch ANY video today... let it be this.
A young Oklahoma little leaguer was accidentally hit in the head by a ball.... and the pitcher was devastated.
So the kid who was hit walked out to the pitcher’s mound to let the pitcher know that he’s going to be okay.
Now THAT is sportsmanship.

I struggle with this with my son in his own sports: Wrestling & soccer... Sports are a physical game and times you need to hit, and you will be hit (In soccer if I feel this more apparent as it's typically non physical until it is.) Soccer also represents a great societal divide and if we dial into the refs lives; we may have a resolve. For instance, little kids play soccer, slam into each other and really never flop. Something happened, and as a minor, or any other label as it is we stop and deal with the follies. Most of the time the "Aggressor", is dealt to deal with some kind of a flop and gets punished even if no harm or problem was caused, the full on act creates a full blown crisis on the field. It creates all kinds of confusion. The confusion parlays into society, and we see it today. Hey I don't like what this person is doing so I'm going to confront them, make them angry, start recording at the very end, and watch them get arrested.
I say this because I feel most of our Law Enforcement is dealing with the same things. At the end of the day, either a penalty was committed or it wasn't. Refs and police the same need to understand the whole situation, not just the victim. Otherwise, you will never know if the victim was just a staged one, and you are completely ruining a game/life over something instigated by others.
Not to mention you were playing the same game, on the same field, you just didn't like the outcomes whether just or not, but still called the refs. Sound familiar?
This is a radical 180 degrees to what I teach at home. Keep your hands to yourself and don't hurt anyone unless in self-defense. The Dichotomy of the two are confusing. Play hard at home but don't hurt anyone, play hard on the field it happens, but make sure you reconcile your actions. These kid are older than mine, but I hope they have the same compassion when competing meant hurting someone you didn't intend to. It will happen in competitive sports, I just hope it doesn't continue to be sport!

Great demonstration of the power of humility, forgiveness and choosing reconciliation over offense. This is the kind of response we need to encourage and develop in the people we lead.
Just a couple quick reflections:
1. Take time to observe and determine the facts before reacting. When the batter is on first base he watches the pitcher with a posture of humility and a desire for understanding in the context of patience.
2. Choose to act with mindfulness and sensitivity towards the offender and the observing world. Once the batter observes the context of the pitcher (unintentional mistake that devesates the pitcher) the batter makes a brave decision to approach in a posture of humility. Pace and time ensure this doesn't turn into a larger conflict.
3. Forgive. Privately, the batter seeing the pitcher's sorrow, addresses the situation and demonstrates true forgiveness.
4. Rally. Unify the relationship, the team and outside observers around higher values, and virtues.
