Can we really change the world in less than three years? 🌍 While many of us have heard that "Rome wasn't built in a day," our experiences with the Lighthouse project for Biosolutions demonstrate that significant changes can happen faster than you might expect. Under the Biosolutions Zealand initiative, a coalition of actors has joined forces to strengthen Denmark's biosolutions ecosystem. Our goal? To accelerate the green transition across industries such as agriculture, food, energy, construction and textiles ♻ – In less than three years, we have established highly sought-after test facilities that foster innovation and scalability for small and emerging biosolutions companies. FermHub Zealand and Teknologisk Institut have invested in advanced equipment, including fermentation tanks, which allows companies to test and refine their solutions," says Anne Christine S. Hastrup, Center Director at the Biosolutions Technology Center at Teknologisk Institut. By visiting each other's facilities, we foster synergies and strong collaborations based on our collective strength. This is not just a small step, but a giant leap toward positioning Denmark as a world leader in biosolutions 🏆

Biobased industries and alternatives to fossil-based solutions are a developing fast and strongly. At the Biomodel4Regions Horizon Europe we are looking at pilot regions and best governance structures to support these ecosystems. Last week, I attended the consortium meeting to discuss progress and participated in Western Macedonia's workshop organized by CluBE-Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia, addressing challenges and outlining next steps. Under the auspice of the Belgian Presidency, Wagralim, the Agri-Food Innovation Cluster of Wallonia is organising a one day event on 11th April. During this day, we will have the opportunity to listen to several high-level keynote presentations from European Commission, the Wallonia government and the regional innovation initiative strategies.
