Oakmount & Partners Ltd managing director Glenn King talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's impressive progress through 2024.
In the first half of the year, Oakmount & Partners transitioned from raising capital for third parties to focusing on building their own assets, achieving a company valuation between £15 to £18 million. King discussed the acquisition of over £4 million in real estate aimed at holiday lettings and traditional buy-to-lets, reflecting the company's robust property portfolio expansion.
King highlighted the company's ambitious five-year plan to raise £50 million, primarily for green technologies and transformative industries. Despite regulatory caps on fundraising, Oakmount & Partners is halfway to its goal, strategically acquiring distressed properties and considering investments in companies like Biosus for green technology exposure.

Thoughts from Debby:
In this company we celebrate the wins… and the losses! Nick and I have long celebrated our wins by cracking open some champagne, but we equally acknowledge the losses too.
We set out to only work with clients who have shared values, shared visions and shared work ethics, but being competitive means I hate losing. I hate losing a tennis match. But in the calm light of day I can admit actually we’re better off without projects that don’t align with our moral code. However, soon after turning down work that wasn’t quite right, we:
➕ Connected with new people with similar values
➕ Were approached by 3 new international clients
➕ Picked up a new London project
➕ Garnered a large pitch for one of our favourite clients
➕ Workshopped a large new regeneration scheme in east London with a lovely team
Energy and alignment is important to us and it shows. I’ve always hated the saying ‘things happen for a reason’ but time and time again it’s proven true for us. So here’s me toasting with my lovely daughter (on pink lemonade) to always remember our energy and beliefs are important and who we share it with even more so.
