Today Senator David Pocock and Member for North Sydney Kylea Tink will introduce to the Senate and the House of Representatives a private members' bill requiring current and future governments to implement a 10-year national housing and homelessness plan in line with objectives including improving supply, affordability and ending homelessness. One objective of the law is to recognise “the right to adequate housing is a fundamental human right”. We say that housing is a human right in Australia, but it is not when there no legislation or underlying framework to facilitate this right. We applaud the introduction of this bill today and look forward to ensuing debate. Fiona Scott
