Learning Partner at Investigo (a division of The IN Group) | Creating bespoke blended learning experiences to inspire exceptional people
So here we are …with the Euro 2024 Final a few days away and England in position to break the ’58 years of hurt’ if they come out on top. With impromptu Sunday barbecues and get togethers being planned and people working out their journeys to Berlin by any remaining route available just to soak up the atmosphere, it really is an incredible once in a lifetime experience for the country and for manager Gareth Southgate and this England squad I am privileged to spend time, work with and support our people managers at Investigo and BioTalent and find myself consistently drawing parallels with the world of sport when looking for great examples of management and leadership. Now, whatever your opinion of his management of the current team, I was interested to learn that Southgate revealed back in 2021 that his three non-negotiables are respect, trust and authenticity. He said ‘Respect is huge and probably covers a lot of the areas really because it's not just respect for me, it's respect for everybody, the team ethos, the lady on reception, your teammate..' On the subject of trust he said ‘there's got to be an agreed integrity to the way we work.’ And on authenticity, I am sure we can agree he is always honest with the public, often explains his way of thinking whenever possible and is a fantastic role model to his team who are also representing themselves with honesty, humility and integrity in post-match interviews. So, I’m sold….as a manager if you can strive to build respect and trust and be authentic in the process, this is a winning formula. I’m interested to hear your comments on the top non-negotiables you have in place as managers, so please comment below! And finally….could it be coming home on Sunday? #managementdevelopment #management #highperformance #learninganddevelopment

Magic moments and #resilience keep England in the running at Euro 2024 - words from Gareth Southgate about Englands team performance against Switzerland. Learning how important character qualities such as resilience when combined with talent can elevate a performance, is important. The 5 penalties were taken by men with the weight of the country on their young shoulders, yet they remained #calm #confident and #optimistic. How do you learn those qualities? How you do reflect on your past experiences and learn and grow to be better equipped for the next time it happens? At Entelechy, we believe we have the answer with our world first character based Assessment and Analytics tool. IMO - New Balance continues to raise the bar in terms of developing strategic, well-produced content in support of both their product and athlete partners / ambassadors. They did the same in signing Cooper Flagg a few months ago, female basketball star Cameron Brink, and last year when aligning a footwear silhouette made in the UK to Italian culture and well-known chef Massimo Bottura (see here: https://lnkd.in/egJbWjZa). In a world of vertical, organic video, they stand out by going against the grain and investing in quality storytelling as much as production. Plus, I’ve always appreciated Chris Davis’s perspective of a 50-30-20 approach to marketing the brand. 50% of allocated budget towards proven tactics, 30% towards more risk-based initiatives, and 20% towards bigger swings that have a higher probability to fail. Most brands would solely err towards the 50. Continue to keep an eye on this legacy brand that is standing out amongst today’s marketing culture. #brandmarketing #contentstrategy #newbalance #socialmedia #contentproduction #marketing

What a start to the week it has been. Thank you for the outpouring of support and well wishes for our new venture. Federate's launch couldn't have gone any better. And to top it off, The American Lawyer did an article on Federate's coming out party, including extensive quotes from Cecy Graf and myself, as well as the always-in-the-know Frederick Shelton. I'm attaching the PDF, and will add the link in the comments. Thanks also to Justin Henry for capturing the essence of our mission and providing us an opportunity to discuss the innovative services we offer. In Part-3 of Portugal Euro 2024 Analysis i show some examples of what i believe Portugal could improve in its Positional Play in the Offensive Phase 👍 In my opinion, Portugal has the quality and player's characteristics to achieve this, and so, improving some of the player's positioning, mobility and timings, will also improve the player's interactions, relations and team performance 🔝

Gareth Southgate vs Lamine Yamal - Who do you predict will be considered a GOAT of football? A day ago, some may consider this a easy question. But Gareth Southgate never let his career defining penalty miss in 1996 Euros affect his passion for the game and even continued into management after his playing career. During 2024 Euros, he had to endure so much criticisms from pundits and suffered much online abuse, yet after the dust settles, he probably would be considered England’s greatest manager so far. Back to back Euro finalists for a start. As for Lamine, what a revelation he has been, lighting up the Euros at merely 16 years old. He has so much potential ahead of him. But will he achieve GOAT status? Only time will tell. In a recent career talk to students, I spoke about career progression in Accounting is often not linear, just like in football. We shouldn’t be obsessed with achieving a certain title or pay within a certain number of years. People grow at different pace and bloom at different phases of their life. What we need is the resilience and the passion to pursue our passion and values. There will be times we make mistakes and feel rock bottom, or feel like the world is against us. Yet there will be times of achievements that will be hailed by many to be great success. We just have to grasp at opportunities that come our way, build our skillsets and build on our professional equity even in tough times or when we feel like we are just grinding day by day. Don’t give up. Don’t let yourself or critics beside you stop you from finding your way. Can’t wait for the Euro finals coming up. May the best man win!
