Happy International Self Care Day from Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas! As we recognize today, we wanted to share a few of our staff’s favorite ways to practice self-care actions: • “Social Media free Sundays” – Michelle R. • “Play frisbee with my dogs” – Kate L • “Building book nooks as a new hobby” – Sadie C. • “Bubble baths after a long day” – Alex H. Part of our mission at Children's Advocacy Center for North Texas is providing healing for child victims and their families. The Center’s team of licensed professional therapists provide counseling to the child victim and their family members, working to overcome challenges, build a positive self-image, develop boundaries, and build healthy relationships through weekly sessions and regular communication. ✨These are the real words of a kid served by an NCA-accredited center. Through our Youth Feedback Survey, we're hearing from them in their own words. Children's Advocacy Centers (CACs) listen to children. CACs also help them process what's happened to them and build a foundation for life after abuse so they can go back to being kids. 👉Learn more about what we do in our Healing, Justice, & Trust report: https://loom.ly/cytrzy8

Motherhood is a wild ride, perhaps the hardest thing I have ever done. This Women In Bio - Capital Region webinar made me feel that we are not alone in this wild journey. It was good to have this honest conversation to dissect what moms had encountered in workplaces and homes. For example, women often have a wage penalty after having a child whereas men are seen as more mature (check motherhood penalty for more info). Another thing that resonated with me was the mental load; the time we spent on researching the best gear for our kids, scheduling/making doctor's appointments, planning playdates/parties, and more. Moms are not superwomen and we shouldn't need to be. We need support, whether it is judgment-free verbal support or societal/workplace benefit support. Thanks Moms at Work and Allison for the conversation. Check out their website for more resources.
Whether you are a new parent, planning on having children, or already have children in grade school, this discussion is for you. Join Allison Venditti, the founder of the career and advocacy organization Moms at Work, for an honest conversation about working and mothering and how to make this combination better for all of us. Join us this Thursday! https://lnkd.in/eSUU5eyw

Resources to help overcome poverty 5. Language rich environments This list could go on and on but we need to ensure children have access to these things listed when 80-90% of the brain is development from birth to 5 years. #earlychildhoodeducation #advocacy #quality
