Prof. Alan Spivey, Associate Provost (Learning and Teaching) from Imperial College London, discusses the institution's approach to evolving assessment in response to Generative AI tool availability at Cadmus' AI Roundtable. Key takeaways: 💡 The University commenced with stress testing assessments to determine vulnerability to Gen AI tool misuse, commencing in the Business School before rolling out institution-wide. 💡 Experts from the Education Development Unit, ICT and Edtech Lab assembled to test assessments using Gen AI to answer tasks, providing a score against the vulnerability criteria. 💡 Following the results, the University harnessed the opportunity to drive innovation in assessment redesign to enhance teaching and learning methods and re-think how often they assess students. Insights into the process can be found below 👇

‘Innovative Perspectives’ brought the commencement of the Business Educators Conference (BEA) 2024 to a platform of robust discussions, sharing, key note speakers and the future of learning and teaching Business Innovation & Economics. Wilderness School is certainly at the forefront of that when it comes to authenticating the purpose of Economics and Business Innovation for Girls in Education in the 21st century. Keynote speakers presenting ‘Where we are?’ and ‘what the future holds?’ pulled no stops with Real Life Issues such as AI, AI in Education, AI in the Classrooms, AI Tools, policies, engaging our students and, more importantly, how to responsibly wade through the fast evolving ‘pool’ of AI. In addition to that, focus questions on contemporary economic issues such as measuring the erratic fluctuation of the business cycle (with government intervention) and impacts of quantitative tightening, innovation, as well as interest rates could be the means to a much stable end. Or not? The highlight certainly emphasised that the elasticity of academic patience is certainly a virtue, coupled with extensive knowledge and understanding of the AI Roadmap and its contribution to STEAM for years to come.

✨ Just finished reading this great report on how UK MATs are embracing AI, along with key recommendations and a new MAT AI Guidance Framework. A few things resonated with me… 💡 Supporting teachers (and all stakeholders) with the skills to navigate AI’s opportunities and risks is crucial. And remembering, AI should enhance, not replace, the personal connections in teaching. 💡 The digital divide is real - if AI is to benefit all students, we need to address access issues head-on. 💡 Ethical implications, like data privacy and fairness, must stay front and centre as AI becomes more embedded in education. 🤩 It’s an exciting time for schools, but we need a solid approach to harness AI’s potential. I can’t wait to see where this leads as we support teachers and ensure all learners are included in this AI-driven future! 👀 🚀 #AI #AIinEducation #EdTech EDUCATE Ventures Research Dr Fiona Aubrey-Smith
Was wonderful to catch up with everyone for the launch of the report at the House of Lords today. System leaders from cross the country working together to support all and start a conversation in an ever changing world of AI. AI needs to be talked about, children/students are aware of it and are using it. Where do we start? What do we do to support them and staff in school? The Shape of the Future Report How education System Leaders can respond to the provocations of Artificial Intelligence This report charts a project that ran between February and July 2024 involving leaders from 23 Multi-Academy Trusts and school groups, encompassing 413 schools, 32,000 staff, and approximately 250,000 students across England. The work is unique - the first of its kind to explore the realities of AI in education with such a large group of participants. Proud to be part of a group that wants to start the discussion and shape the change for what the children/pupils need. The Genie is out of the bottle already! https://lnkd.in/ei7wUHwk

It's crucial to approach AI's integration into higher education with both critical inquiry and openness to innovation. Banning the use of it is not going to work and so is thinking it's going to go away. Blindly accepting it is not a good approach either. I’m pleased to share "AI in Higher Education – Frameworks for Critical Inquiry and Innovation," a resource designed to guide institutions through this transformative process. This document presents ten frameworks that encourage thoughtful examination of AI’s impact on equity, accountability, financial sustainability, student success, and more. It offers practical guidance to help institutions leverage AI effectively while maintaining ethical standards and ensuring inclusivity. I hope this resource sparks meaningful conversations about the responsible and innovative use of AI in higher education. Link in the comment.
