Leadership expert, John Maxwell, is credited for the statement “He who thinks he leads, but has no followers, is only taking a walk". In my latest piece, I discuss what makes people buy into a leader and choose to follow them. For more content, subscribe to The Leadership Well on Patheos. https://lnkd.in/eKExt7Jz

Great blog! For me, leadership is getting team members to recognize their own personal potential and abilities while earning the trust and confidence needed to motivate and engage.

Whitebeard: A Leadership Model from One Piece -- Should you strive to be a "Pirate" In One Piece, a few characters embody authentic leadership, such as Edward Newgate, known as Whitebeard. As one of the most influential figures in the series, Whitebeard’s leadership style offers valuable lessons for anyone looking to inspire and lead effectively. Strength and Authority: Whitebeard commanded respect not through fear but through his strength of character and the respect he showed others. He led by example, demonstrating that true power lies in protecting and uplifting those around you. Unwavering Loyalty: Whitebeard treated his crew as family, fostering deep loyalty and trust. His crew’s willingness to stand by him, even at significant personal risk, shows that authentic leadership is built on mutual respect and care. Compassion and Humanity: Whitebeard was compassionate and protective despite his fearsome reputation. He valued human life and saw potential in everyone, which made him a leader who inspired deep loyalty and admiration. Whitebeard’s legacy reminds us that outstanding leadership isn’t just about being strong; it’s about building trust, showing compassion, and impacting those you lead. His example is a powerful reminder of what it means to be a true leader.

🌟 Exploring Leadership: Inspiring Others to Greatness Delve into thoughts on leadership by Agaba Allan Paul—a topic close to my heart. I hope it sparks introspection on the leader you aspire to become. One key takeaway: "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader." - John Quincy Adams "Always keep in mind: those we lead harbour dreams and aspirations of their own, yearning to achieve them as much as we do." #Leadership #Inspiration

Most of us have heard the term "IGM" or "I Got Mine", and this can be okay if you are not in a position where you are expected to lead. However, in the fire service, we are all leaders at some level and need to keep that in mind when making decisions that not only affect us, but others as well. We lead ourselves by making sure our house is in order before we try to lead others. If we are not leading ourselves, the credibility needed to lead others will allude us and we will fail in this endeavor. Conversely, if we lead ourselves well, we can then focus on assisting and leading others in their goals and dreams. Along with credibility, influence is another part a person must have in order to lead others. As my favorite leadership author, John Maxwell states, "leadership is influence, nothing more, nothing less." We can be successful by leading ourselves correctly, but we can be a successful leader if we lead relationally and put others before ourselves in our decision making processes. "A successful person finds the right place for himself. But a successful leader finds the right place for others." John C. Maxwell #leadership #leadershipmindset

https://lnkd.in/dtc9Shr2 I can absolutely relate. My journey into leadership is sort of similar to this.
VT on Instagram: "Leadership isn’t a skill you can simply acquire from books or lectures; rather, it’s a profound journey that unfolds within the crucible of stress and challenges. To become a true leader, one must navigate the complex landscape of adversity and emerge from it with newfound strength and wisdom. Imagine leadership as a multifaceted gemstone, with each facet representing a unique qu

Leadership An instant New York Times bestseller Henry Kissinger, consummate diplomat and statesman, examines the strategies of six great twentieth-century figures and brings to life a unifying theory of leadership and diplomacy “An extraordinary book, one that braids together two through lines in the long and distinguished career of former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger...In Leadership he presents a fascinating set of historical case studies and political biographies that blend the dance and the dancer, seamlessly.” - James Stavridis, The Wall Street Journal “Leaders,” writes Henry Kissinger in this compelling book, “think and act at the intersection of two axes: the first, between the past and the future; the second, between the abiding values and aspirations of those they lead. They must balance what they know, which is necessarily drawn from the past, with what they intuit about the future, which is inherently conjectural and uncertain. It is this intuitive grasp of direction that enables leaders to set objectives and lay down a strategy.” In Leadership, Kissinger analyses the lives of six extraordinary leaders through the distinctive strategies of statecraft, which he believes they embodied. After the Second World War, Konrad Adenauer brought defeated and morally bankrupt Germany back into the community of nations by what Kissinger calls “the strategy of humility.” Charles de Gaulle set France beside the victorious Allies and renewed its historic grandeur by “the strategy of will.” During the Cold War, Richard Nixon gave geostrategic advantage to the United States by “the strategy of equilibrium.” After twenty-five years of conflict, Anwar Sadat brought a vision of peace to the Middle East by a “strategy of transcendence.” Against the odds, Lee Kuan Yew created a powerhouse city-state, Singapore, by “the strategy of excellence.” And, though Britain was known as “the sick man of Europe” when Margaret Thatcher came to power, she renewed her country’s morale and international position by “the strategy of conviction.” To each of these studies, Kissinger brings historical perception, public experience and—because he knew each of the subjects and participated in many of the events he describes—personal knowledge. Leadership is enriched by insights and judgements that only Kissinger could make and concludes with his reflections on world order and the indispensability of leadership today. https://lnkd.in/g87T4pws
