In collaboration with Marshall Street Initiatives, they shared their expertise to develop Research-to-Impact Practice Collections. This resource addresses how educators can meet the diverse needs of students with disabilities — especially students from historically underserved backgrounds. Over three years, educators, researchers, and content experts developed evidence-based practices to improve learning experiences, environments, and outcomes for Black and Latinx students with disabilities experiencing poverty. Imagine a world free from bias, exclusion and discrimination. A world where all people have equitable opportunities and outcomes. Sadly, this world doesn’t exist – yet. People with disabilities experience marginalisation and barriers to inclusion across all touchpoints in society. For blind persons like me with it’s even harder. We are more likely to experience physical and sexual violence than persons without disabilities. More likely to acquire more impairments. And face significant barriers to participation. Despite this, persons who are blind are too often left behind in humanitarian and development programming in most regions.. Join as a public policy scholar and humanitarian in amplifying the message that persons who are blind must be front and centre of development efforts. Blind lives matter!

The Networked Improvement Community for Students with Disabilities brought together 10 school networks to improve education for historically underserved students. Using the tools of continuous improvement — the science of getting better at getting better — leading researchers, content experts, and educators developed more than 20 evidence-based practices that show early evidence of impact for Black and Latino students with disabilities experiencing poverty. Join Marshall Street and practitioners from Summit Public Schools and Green Dot Public Schools to explore essential strategies to improve collaboration between special education and general education teachers and elevate data-driven interventions. These practices can improve learning experiences, environments and outcomes for students with disabilities – and help build stronger schools for all students.
