Good to see action being taken following the O’Shaughnessy Review. A few key takeaways from the HRA response: ‘’We’re drafting new guidance to accompany the regulations, including an inclusion and diversity plan, jointly with MHRA, that helps sponsors and researchers to identify who should be included in their trials.’’ ‘’We’re identifying the barriers and enablers to contacting potential participants about research, and our report and further guidance is coming soon.’’ ‘’We’ve launched design principles for participant information about studies so that researchers know how to provide simple, clear information for people deciding whether to take part, and a new standard to bring more consistency in how our ethics committees review that information.’’ ‘’We’ve co-created hallmarks of good people-centred clinical research, to help researchers understand how to design and conduct research that people will feel is relevant to them when they are asked about taking part.’’
We welcome the government's full response to Lord O’Shaughnessy’s independent review into commercial clinical trials in the UK. The response sets out plans to make the UK one of the best places in the world for clinical trials. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eR2v3EDz

Happy to be a part of this conversation. Non-medical costs can be a significant barrier to patient participation in clinical trials. These costs can occur when no local trials are available and patients must travel to distant trial sites, or when there is a need for more frequent clinic visits for additional trial-related treatment or monitoring. Decentralized clinical trials can help alleviate some of these barriers potentially allowing for a larger and more diverse cohort of trial participants.
Crowell's hosts Payal Nanavati, Jodi Goldstein Daniel, and Cara Tenenbaum talk to Ben Moscovitch, Devon Adams, and Noah Goodson, Ph.D. about recent policy developments on decentralized clinical trials (DCTs). Click to listen:

We are happy to see multiple NH physician voices advocating for the betterment of public health lately. 🙌 Example—the ongoing discussion about medical peer review and oversight in our state. In a recent Concord Monitor op ed, Dr. Nick Perencevich highlighted the importance of HB 322, which establishes a committee to study the NH Board of Medicine. He argues that peer review by physicians is crucial for protecting public health and ensuring quality medical care. Dr. Perencevich expressed concerns about recent changes that have reduced physician involvement in complaint investigations and board processes. Read Dr. Perencevich's full op ed 👉 https://lnkd.in/eEKKfR6c In response, Dr. Oge Young emphasized the value of medical peer review, stating that "The quality of a physician's care should be judged by his/her peers." Dr. Young also raised concerns about the current medical malpractice system, suggesting it can lead to defensive medicine practices and does not necessarily improve patient care.
