It's safe to say that medical care is a blessing to people, especially in areas where medical care can be difficult to come by. Equally, those providing medical care as part of missions outreach are also blessed. As this year's Global Missions Health Conference (GMHC) approaches, many medical professionals are preparing to be challenged, encouraged, and in the case of Dr. Amy, looking forward to where God will lead her and her husband next. Her story, and information about this year's GMHC, is available on our blog: https://lnkd.in/d_zZ7aXN

The AMA is pleased to announce that all Australian Medical Association (WA) members have returned to full federal membership status, effective today. This positive development means Western Australian doctors can now be represented once again at the federal level as Australian Medical Association members. Going forward, we will work closely with AMA WA, as we do with all state and territory AMAs, on how we can deliver positive outcomes for all doctors. Whether it's addressing the concerning viability issues in the private health system; the public hospital logjam; shoring up general practice as the cornerstone of the health system, or the myriad regulatory issues facing all doctors at state and federal levels, the AMA — and the profession as a whole — is stronger when it works together at both levels of government. The AMA welcomes this new chapter and will continue to drive meaningful change and deliver the best outcomes for Australian doctors. We are happy to see multiple NH physician voices advocating for the betterment of public health lately. 🙌 Example—the ongoing discussion about medical peer review and oversight in our state. In a recent Concord Monitor op ed, Dr. Nick Perencevich highlighted the importance of HB 322, which establishes a committee to study the NH Board of Medicine. He argues that peer review by physicians is crucial for protecting public health and ensuring quality medical care. Dr. Perencevich expressed concerns about recent changes that have reduced physician involvement in complaint investigations and board processes. Read Dr. Perencevich's full op ed 👉 https://lnkd.in/eEKKfR6c In response, Dr. Oge Young emphasized the value of medical peer review, stating that "The quality of a physician's care should be judged by his/her peers." Dr. Young also raised concerns about the current medical malpractice system, suggesting it can lead to defensive medicine practices and does not necessarily improve patient care. Read Dr. Young's full op ed 👉 https://lnkd.in/e5jtNpUZ Your voice matters, too!
