🤔 Are relocation packages still a thing in job offers? Back in the day, it was common for companies to sweeten the deal with relocation packages. But I'm curious—are they still a standard offering today? 📦💼 After applying to over 2000 positions, both remote (anywhere) and in-office, here in the Phoenix metropolitan area, I'm now open to considering in-office or hybrid positions outside of AZ, and I'm now opened to relocating. RELOCATING to Brisbane?? 🌏 What does this mean for you? Speaking as someone who moved from Melbourne to Brisbane, it's tough. It's not always as simple as get a job and then will worry about the move later… with some exceptions to this of course. When speaking to candidates, I will always ask: 1)     Do you have friends, family, or a support system in Brisbane? 2)     Do you know where abouts you want to live? …. rentals are tough! 3)     How many weeks would you need to relocate? 4)     Do you need to end your current lease or sell/rent out your current property? 5)     WHYYY Brisbane? A lot of these questions are quite tough to answer for candidates, but they are necessary to not only make you realise it’s not straight and simple, but also so I can share/convince my client that you are committed to the interview process, the job, AND the relocation. For those who are applying to roles interstate, I will never not call someone because they aren’t located in Brisbane as it can be done, but I will ask you these questions before moving to the next stage of the call. Hiring an advisor costs a lot. Doing it yourself poorly costs more. Doing nothing costs the most. You can do it well if you’ve got lots of spare time. Most people don't have much spare time, so they either do it poorly or do nothing. Look at the big picture of the costs and the overall benefit (results) and choose the best one.
