Shippers - It's been an incredibly soft freight climate, no doubt, unlike any decline we've witnessed before... However, are you prepared for the next market turn? History has shown it's never gradual. Are the majority of your carrier calls related to service issues vs forecasting and strategy? Maybe yes, perhaps no. Chances are it's not perfect. Consider this- If mid-market, take your top 3 to 10 service providers (or depending on your size). Bring them to the table, look to them as your partner and let them know where you are, and where you’d like to go. See how they align, then close the gaps utilizing the strengths of your remaining partnerships. - Partnership being the key word. It's not a matter of greater diversification, it's a matter of strength within true partnerships. This seems like the simplest thing, and it is. However, this is commonly overlooked by many. If you are already doing so, you're ahead of the curve. It's our primary role as your carrier partner to increase your efficiency, close gaps and eliminate your pain points. Are you expanding into growing markets? Strategic alignment is key here. Do you have a thought partner within your core incumbency that is collaborating with you in efforts to continue becoming a shipper of choice? In discussions with new shipper partners, there has been a lost focus here. We encourage the focus doesn't let up. We foresee '24/25' to bring new challenges within these new times of freight management. #strategy #leadership #innovation #partnershipsforchange #shipperofchoice #thirdpartylogistics #transparancy #cakefreight

"‘Thanks for the quote. I’ll get back to you soon.’ — 12 years ago. Ah, the classic line that every logistics professional knows all too well! 😅 In this business, providing quotes is our daily bread. From shipping containers to managing complex supply chains, we’ve mastered the art of delivering precise, competitive quotes. But what about the waiting game that follows? That’s where the real challenge begins! Imagine: it’s a sunny Monday morning. You’ve just finished your third cup of coffee and sent out a meticulously detailed quote. You’re feeling great, maybe even a bit heroic. But then... crickets. Days, weeks, sometimes even months go by. That hopeful ‘soon’ turns into a distant memory, lost in the endless sea of follow-ups. But here’s the thing—we wouldn’t trade it for anything. Each quote is a step closer to building trust and solid relationships. And sometimes, just sometimes, those ‘soon’ replies come back with the green light that makes it all worth it. So here’s to all the logistics warriors out there, navigating the highs and lows, the quotes and the waits. Keep pushing forward, because every ‘soon’ has the potential to turn into something amazing. 💪🚛🌍 #LogisticsLife #QuoteAndWait #PatienceInBusiness #LogisticsEducation #ImportExport #GlobalLeaders #WestonLogistcs #Formorethanjustclearing #Supplychain #FreightLogistics #clearingandforwarding #Shippingline #Warehousing #Packaging #Customs #Transport #Freight #ThinkWELL

Transportation Professional | Problem Solver | Project Manager | Driving Cost Savings in Supply Chain Operations
Is Your Transportation Strategy Serving Your Teams? I had an insightful conversation with a friend this week about transportation strategies being undermined by operations. It's not about sabotage; no one comes to work with that intention. Instead, it highlights a misalignment between strategy and facility output, indicating a need for a more refined strategy. Transportation strategy discussions often focus on financial goals, savings initiatives, the right mix of carriers, brokers, assets, and becoming a Shipper of Choice. However, there’s much more to consider for true success: Ensure Your Transportation Strategy Serves Your Operations Team: Include Operations Leadership in Strategy Development: Give them a voice and create an environment for easy, actionable feedback. Understand Facility Constraints: Ensure operations have the right capacity at the right time. Align Carriers with Company Culture: Choose carriers with a servant mindset that matches your company culture, and ensure their operations teams are engaged and accountable. Collaborate on KPIs and Metrics: Develop these with your operations team and incorporate them into the bid process. Review Halo Business: Understand capacity that enters a facility prepaid and may not have TMS visibility. These carriers often have existing relationships with your site, reduce yard traffic, and support large corporate initiatives. How do you ensure your transportation strategy serves your operations teams? #transportation #strategy #supplychain #planning

Experienced Operations & Logistics Professional | Founder & CEO | Leadership | Improving Efficiency & Driving Impact
I used to think the only transportation option was the one that worked for everyone. (Since then, I’ve optimized transportation systems across industries) Here’s the no.1 thing I’ve learned about transportation in supply chains: Options matter more than sticking to one mode of transport. You need to diversify transportation strategies, not just rely on one system. Flexibility is what creates resilience in supply chains, especially when disruptions hit. Offering alternatives has helped us avoid costly delays and improve efficiency, taking operations from average to outstanding. Every transportation plan I: 1. Evaluate multiple routes and modes of transport 2. Identify potential risks, from roadblocks to port delays 3. Communicate expectations clearly with partners and carriers Because it’s better to have options than to be left stranded with one approach when issues arise. Supply chains suffer when flexibility isn’t a priority. ♻️ Repost this to inspire logistics leaders to elevate transportation planning. 🔔 Follow Harees Gurashi for more insights on Operations & Logistics. P.S... What transportation alternative has worked best for you? #Transportation #Operations #Logistics
