Collaboration with Donchamp Acrylics Transparent elements in the European Underwater Research Station are of essential importance. They allow constant observation of the environment, provide psychological well-being and natural light. Thanks to modern acrylic technology, we are able to plan shapes and sizes that would not have been possible in the past. We are therefore more than pleased with the mutual MoU with Donchamp Acrylics, one of the world's largest makers of cast acrylic sheet and producer of engineered acrylic. This collaboration will ensure some very surprising and spectacular features of the habitat system that have been requested for implementation by users from various sectors. How do you know if your historic building has a hidden design scheme? A historic paint study will help determine that. In a historic paint study, a number of methods are used to discover a historic building's significant paint and design scheme– mechanical and chemical investigations will reveal hidden layers, scientific analysis will define original colors, and historical research of original documents will help confirm patterns that have been revealed. Once a paint study defines hidden layers, Canning can perform a paint exposure, as seen here. Paint exposures are performed onsite from areas determined by the information retrieved through archival research. #techniquetuesday #paintstudy #paintexposure #historicbuilding #designscheme #historicbuildings #historicpaint #historicpaintanalysis #historicpaints #historicpainter #historicpainters #historicpaintwork #historicpaintstudy #historicpaintinvestigation #paintreveal #paintreveals #decorativepainting #historiccolorpalette #perfectingpreseration #historicrestoration #historicpreservation

Projects often require Canning to analyze all types of architectural finishes, including paint, through various processes and techniques. Mechanical and chemical investigations reveal hidden layers, which help define original colors and finishes. Contributing to the overall paint investigation and analysis, historical research of original documents, specifications, and period photographs to help guide the process to where samples should be taken and where paint exposure should be performed. ÍRIS_01 Project Íris The Íris, the black holes that absorb the world around us and use the light of this world as a conductive material to build the worldview of each of, our souls, but not of all souls... Many of us cannot use our eyes to capture and understand the world, we will have to use other forms of apprehension to interpret this world, within Pandora’s box, which is our brain: using touch, hearing, taste, and smell. Our nervous system is a network of exchange and relationships with the external world and channels information and established relationships to the core of our nervous system... the brain. Technique: Digital sculpture, printed in a single piece in biodegradable and recyclable PLA approximate dimensions of the piece: 900mm in diameter 300mm deep Photos from @ricardoliveiralves At the moment Íris project is on display in one of the rooms of @MU.SA - Museu das Artes de Sintra and it will be there until mid-February. project from Fauno_art #digitalart #sculpture #art

A reminder to make sure you submit entries into our Urban Development Institute of New Zealand UDINZ Photography Competition 2024. Much of what UDINZ achieves, results from the (multi-disciplinary) professionals in our wider network leaning in to contribute their expertise for the benefit of the sector and NZ Inc, rather than a direct personal or organisational benefit (although there often is mana that accrues from that!). It’s no different in this instance. Images are a great way of reinforcing the story of Urban form here in Aotearoa. This is an “all comers” competition where professionals and enthusiastic amateurs are both encouraged to participate. If you don’t want to contribute your work, that’s fine, but we do welcome and thank all that do. The overarching theme of this competition is “Urban Development Photography distinctly of Aotearoa New Zealand”. Merit shall be determined entirely at our judging panel’s discretion based on their perception of the appropriateness of the image to the category in which it is entered and the quality of “story” told by the image. It is not technical photography or any particular style of photography sought, but the story of our people and places here in Aotearoa we are after, so get out there and start snapping or scour the hard drives for images you'd like to enter.
