When my daughter was diagnosed with 𝗘𝗕𝗙3 𝗛𝗔𝗗𝗗𝗦, our lives took an unexpected turn. Navigating the complexities of this rare genetic disorder has been both challenging and informative. Throughout this journey, my passion for raising awareness and helping other families facing similar challenges has grown immensely—it has become my legacy.
I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the EBF3 HADDS Foundation Board for trusting me to contribute to the incredible work they've already accomplished. The EBF3 HADDS Foundation has been a beacon of hope, providing invaluable resources, support, and advocacy for those affected by this condition.
As a Board member, I am excited to:
• 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵: Support initiatives that fund groundbreaking research aimed at better understanding EBF3 HADDS and developing effective treatments.
• 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: Create programs and campaigns to educate the public and healthcare professionals about HADDS, ensuring earlier diagnoses and interventions.
• 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁: Build a strong network where families can connect, share experiences, and access essential resources.
This is more than a role—it's a commitment to making a meaningful impact in our community. I believe that together, we can amplify our efforts to bring hope and support to all those affected by HADDS.
𝗜 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻. Your involvement, whether it's sharing this message, participating in our events, or simply educating yourself about EBF3 HADDS, is crucial. Every action you take makes a significant difference and is deeply appreciated.

When Mannix’s previous care provider arranged temporary accommodation for him, the whole experience turned into a nightmare.
“He was paired up with another client who’s violent and aggressive," shares Mannix's wife, Christina. "Mannix had to put up with that for three months. I kept asking to make a change and nothing ever happened.”
This was the last straw. After researching other providers, they made the decision to switch to Afea.
The Afea team worked quickly to move Mannix to a #supportedindependentliving house in St Clair, where he enjoyed a safe and peaceful living environment plus 24/7 support.
Mannix now receives care services, #supportcoordination and #planmanagement from Afea.
With excellent care in place, Mannix and Christina can now focus on fun moments as a family, as well as the future.

If you want something in the world to improve, start doing better; even if you must invent it, set the standard. Once it's set, dedicate the rest of your life and work with others to build it up and keep improving it. "What you sow into the lives of others is the harvest you will reap tomorrow." Anonymous.
Carrie Hyde, MD, thanks for sharing the original post.
The true meaning of life is to plant trees under whose shade you do not expect to sit. ~ Nelson Henderson.
Someone's sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree long ago. ~ Warren Buffett.
The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second-best time is now. ~Chinese Proverb.
Even if I knew the world would go to pieces tomorrow, I would still plant my apple tree. ~Martin Luther.
The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson.
On the last day of the world, I would want to plant a tree. ~W.S. Merwin
"While in office, the Carter administration tested hospice care as a model, which led to the Medicare Hospice Benefit we know today. President Carter receives the same hospice care available to all Americans under the Medicare Hospice Benefit". ~ The Hospices Action Network.
You reap what you sow. What you work for is what you will get. Do not expect to get success if you do not do what needs to be done.
You reap what you sow: Life is like a boomerang. Our thoughts, deeds, and words return to us sooner or later with astounding accuracy. ~Grant M. Bright.
You reap what you sow, not something else but that. An act of love makes the soul more loving. A deed of humbleness deepens humbleness. The thing reaped is the very thing sown, multiplied a hundredfold. You have sown a seed of life; you reap life everlasting. ~ Frederick William Robertson
Whatever you do today is directly proportional to what will happen tomorrow. So, sow what you reap. ~ Anonymous
The person who sows generously will also reap generously. ~Anonymous
#leadershipexcellence#integrity#compassion#kindness#healthcareadvancement#medicaid#medicare#medicareadvantage The moral of this post: Plant the trees. If you plant well, you will reap generously.
One year ago today, President Carter entered hospice care. This is notable for a few reasons:
-Former President Jimmy Carter is the longest living U.S. President and the first known to utilize hospice care.
-While in office, the Carter administration tested hospice care as a model, which led to the Medicare Hospice Benefit we know today.
-The average Length of Stay for Medicare patients in 2021 was 92 days, and the median was 17.
-In 2021, 6% of hospice patients received care for 365 days or more.
-President Carter is receiving the same hospice care that is available to all Americans under the Medicare Hospice Benefit.
Thank you, President Carter for lighting the way for all of us.

This is the unfortunate truth for independent pharmacies lately, even those who have been in business for 86 years.
As an independent pharmacy owner myself, I spend countless hours, including weekends and early mornings, to find innovative ways to keep my pharmacy profitable.
The dispensing days of pharmacy are over; we must try to offer additional services, such as compounding, remote patient monitoring, testing and treatment, and collaborating more with physicians to bill for our valuable services.
Although the road ahead may be challenging, this is our opportunity as a small business owner and pharmacists to be creative, innovative, and profitable by trying something new.
Let's hear what niches your pharmacy has found to be profitable in the comments!

86 years. Red Cross Pharmacy served their community for 86 years. Scott is a devoted pharmacist who proudly served his community, successfully ran his business, raised his family and spent time advocating for our profession. Not all heroes wear capes, some wear pharmacy coats. What a remarkable journey ended by corporate greed of PBMs.
