This is the possible scenario the Americans would be going as Electrification Transition🔌Plug-in Hybrid, instead of an All-Battery Electric car FutureReady. Featured in this article a SUV PHEV of up to 50 km on All-Battery Electric Drive; while a Toyota Prius Prime could obtain up to 70 km, with current Battery Technology. If newer Energy Storage systems can commercialize before 2030, a SUV PHEV-75 and Sedan PHEV-100 is highly possible. For most Americans or close to 90% drives within 100 km daily. This would mean, on daily commute, these PHEV-100 will be zero emission and on weekends going for road trips or holidays with Hybrid mode. Most importantly, these PHEV can recharge at home with a standard wall plug, no regulatory requirements. Though, they might take between 12 and 14 hours from 0 to 100% state-of-charge (110 volt); if you did 100 km of driving on the previous day. I believe, the American and likely Australian markets should pivot towards PHEV-75 and PHEV-100 thru 2030; perhaps the rest of the World with private home garage should follow this potential trending.
Sorry, EVs — I test drove my first PHEV and it’s the perfect blend of electric and gas power

Can you Jumpstart a Hybrid Car ? 🔋 Understanding Hybrid Car Battery Systems: A Guide to Jump-Starting 🚗💡 Yes, you can! Jump-starting a hybrid car like the Toyota Prius involves a bit more know-how than a regular gas vehicle due to their unique powertrain layouts. Most hybrids have two batteries: a high-voltage main battery and a smaller 12-volt starter battery, which might be located under the hood or in the trunk. It's crucial to identify the correct battery for safe jump-starting. Did you know some hybrids like the Hyundai Ioniq can even jump-start themselves? For complete safety and efficiency, always refer to your owner's manual or contact professional services for assistance. https://lnkd.in/dJyn-Psu (+27) 84 523 1111 #HybridCars #AutoSafety #BetterBatteryShop

Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) October registration numbers are in and here's our summary 👇 📢 October saw a strong performance in the new car market, with 153,529 new car registrations, marking a 14.3% increase year-on-year and 7.2% above 2019 levels. 📈 However, the growth of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) continues to face challenges in increasing its market share, despite recording its 42nd consecutive month of growth. On the bright side, efforts to improve chargepoint rollout are underway to stay ahead of the increasing demand. ⚡️🔌 Looking ahead, the new market outlook has been revised upwards to 1.886 million units, and further growth is anticipated in 2024. However, the expectations for BEV uptake have been slightly downgraded. 📊 🤔 What do you think can be done to further accelerate the growth of battery electric vehicles and achieve our green goals? 💚 #NewCarMarket #EVGrowth #sustainabletransport #ElectricVehicles

270 miles of EV range was the US-market midpoint in 2023 Is 270 miles enough of a rated range in a new electric vehicle? As the Department of Energy pointed out this past week, 270 miles was the median rated range for new 2023-model-year EVs. Meanwhile, the top EV range rating was once again earned by Lucid—for a version of the 2023 Lucid Air Grand Touring. https://lnkd.in/gp29ZUDF

OEs are starting to offer more and more hybrid options. As they do, I hear the same questions. The simplest, most common one being, "What exactly is a hybrid car?" Looking purely at the definition, "A hybrid is a car with a gasoline engine and an electric motor, each of which can propel it." By combining these two technologies you gain greater fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. Not all hybrid options function the same though. To get a better understanding, I recommend giving this excellent article on hybrids from Autoblog a read. It starts with the basics and breaks things out from there. I haven't owned a hybrid before but I have driven a few. They've come a long way from their origins. Most hypercars are utilizing hybrid technology and it makes sense as you're gaining the the best of both worlds. Have you owned a hybrid? If you have, would you consider buying another one? #automotive #electricvehicles #pluginhybrids https://lnkd.in/gebs8Agk

You might want to start saving up if you're looking for a plug-in hybrid. These cars, equipped with an internal combustion engine to take over when the battery powering the vehicle runs out of juice, have become an alluring compromise for a new group of more practical green-car shoppers. That's giving new life to the once-withering hybrid segment. Car companies are leaning into this segment more than ever, changing production and sales strategies to meet the growing demand for hybrid cars. https://lnkd.in/eVnCTtZE
