🌟 Elevating Your Craft: Embracing New Challenges 🌟 This past Sunday, I had the incredible opportunity to debut in liturgical dance with the Bahamas Harvest Dance Ministry at our Reclaim the Night Corporate Prayer and Worship event. It was an amazing experience that reminded me of the power of having FAITH in GOD to try new things to elevate different areas of my craft. Just like some athletes use ballet to enhance their balance, exploring new avenues can have a profound impact on our skills. Here are three benefits of stepping out of your comfort zone and trying new things to elevate your craft: 1. **Enhanced Creativity**: Trying different forms of expression can ignite fresh ideas and perspectives, fueling your creativity and adding depth to your craft. 2. **Expanded Skill Set**: Venturing into uncharted territory challenges you to learn new skills and techniques, ultimately broadening your abilities and strengthening your craft. 3. **Personal Growth**: Embracing new challenges fosters personal growth, resilience, and adaptability, which are invaluable traits for any artist. Remember, the path to mastery often involves embracing the unfamiliar and being open to diverse experiences. So, whether it's exploring a new dance style, learning a different musical instrument, or delving into another form of artistic expression, don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. It is crucial to consider the type of education and experience the teacher has. It's essential to have dance classes taught by well-trained instructors with proper education and experience. It's not ideal to have 15-—to 18-year-old girls instructing two—or three-year-old students. The dance teacher should be well-versed in the dance curriculum and hold at least a certificate or a college degree. It's important to understand that young kids absorb everything they see and hear in their first dancing steps. Therefore, using imagination, live piano music, and playful exercises will play a vital role in the child's development.

I didn't have it on my 2024 bingo card to learn choreography with my colleagues and get featured in The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts music video, but I'm sure glad I did! Dancing is as challenging as it is liberating. My biggest takeaway—dance ACTIVATES social and emotional skills: ▶ Self-Awareness - no matter if you're a beginner or experienced dancer, mindset matters! ▶ Self-Management - managing your body in a space with other dancers requires self-discipline ▶ Responsible Decision-Making - trying something new opens your mind and heart to wonderful opportunities ▶ Relationship Skills - dancing strengthens relationships and builds new ones.
