We’re pleased to share a new impact report for the East Metro Main Street Economic Revitalization Program, which supported 42 Saint Paul nonprofits and businesses that faced immense challenges the past four years due to the pandemic, civil unrest and other obstacles. With support from F. R. Bigelow Foundation and other funding partners, the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation and the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development granted $3.7 million to nonprofits and $3.3 million to businesses in the Snelling-University-Rice Cultural District, the East Side community and along West Seventh Street in Saint Paul. 100% of the funded projects serve communities that have been historically under- and dis-invested by traditional funding, and 85% of the projects are owned or led by people of color. The CFEK Communities Committee recently met to review a number of great applications from across our region and had the tough decision of choosing three nonprofits to receive $5,000 each to support their Community Economic Development (CED) projects. Congratulations to: 🎉 Golden Community Economic Development 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲. This project aims to engage the community of Golden and CSRD in visioning what the Kicking Horse River (from the mouth of the canyon to the confluence with the Columbia River) would best look like 10-15 years from now, thereby enhancing the community's connection to the river. 🎉𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲. This role aims to unite nonprofits and create a community hub for RDEK AREA B, thereby fostering collaboration, understanding community needs for projects and services, and addressing service gaps. 🎉𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱’𝘀 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗞𝗶𝗱𝘀' 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗛𝘂𝗯 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆. This study will investigate the opportunities of using space at the Mountainview School in Sparwood to increase the number of full-time day-care spaces for those under 5, support before and after school care, provide offices for child support services and also allow space for other community programs to use. I was hoping to share this out sooner, ahead of the long, Labor-Day weekend, on behalf of the Connecticut Council for Philanthropy’s (CCP’s) Housing Affinity Group. Nonetheless, I wanted to spread the word on the Suburban/Rural Housing Movement Request for Proposal (RFP). 🏘 This RFP seeks to increase availability and affordability of housing throughout Connecticut through the creation, expansion, and coordination of local resident groups, each working to build public understanding and support for housing issues in their communities. This grant will support a nonprofit organization to build statewide infrastructure and to serve as an intermediary for regranting, with the goal of supporting a suburban and rural housing movement. 🏡 If you or anyone you know may be interested in submitting a proposal, you MUST do so by the deadline of 9/6/2024 at 11:59pm. Community Resource Centers of Texas, Inc. (CRCTX) is the mission arm of the Texas Housing Foundation. CRCTX was established to meet the growing needs of rural Texas communities. Over the years, CRCTX has expanded from a small Help & Services Center in Burnet County to multiple Community Resource Centers in Burnet, Blanco, and Llano Counties. With our newly adopted Community Improvement Plan (CIP) for Affordable Housing and Sustainable Design, Richmond Hill is taking significant steps to promote affordable housing in the city. The CIP is one of the initiatives Richmond Hill is pursuing as a part of its $31 million Housing Accelerator Fund and it will be launched in early 2025 to incentivize landowners and developers to help address housing affordability and environmental sustainability in the city.
