Improving energy efficiency in cities and industries is expected to contribute more to climate goals than expanding renewable energy over the next five years. We need both to reduce energy demand and expand clean energy sources to address climate change. Yet energy efficiency is often de-prioritized even though it is essential to meet climate goals, reduces waste and saves money. Amory Lovins founded RMI to promote efficient energy use over 40 years ago. And energy efficiency is just as important now as it was then — and deserves top billing on business and government agendas. That’s why at #ClimateWeekNYC we’re launching the Energy Efficiency Hub — a go to resource to illustrate pragmatic solutions available for deployment now, that can reduce up to $4.5 trillion wasted every year on inefficient systems. Visit the Energy Efficiency Hub to get inspired and learn why efficiency matters, and how to improve our built environments, industry, transportation, and electricity systems! https://bit.ly/3Xt6Voa #EnergyEfficiency #Sustainability #ClimateAction #ClimateGoals

We're excited to invite you to an engaging panel session at the Australian Energy Week conference, on the 13th of June, from 10:20 am, where industry experts will discuss the future of grid efficiency and support for renewable generation and storage. Professor and Director of the centre, Magnus Söderberg, along with Craig Stallan - Executive General Manager, Lumea (Transgrid Group), Alistair Parker - Chief Executive Officer, VicGrid, Kala Saban, Associate Director, Rewiring the Nation, Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) will answer the question "What regulation would improve grid efficiency and support developers of renewable generation and storage?" Topics we’ll cover in the conversation are: 🔹 Which reforms can help reduce re-work and improve efficiency, or do we need less regulation altogether? 🔹 Is the Connections Reform Initiative a realistic solution to delays and the increasing complexity in connections? 🔹 How important are repeatable outcomes and predictable connection processes? 🔹 How can a collaborative working model between industry, AEMO, and the NSPs be facilitated? The session will be moderated by Phil Blythe, Founding Director, Climate Tech Assembly. Join us and be part of the conversation. We look forward to seeing you there! "The argument is that we should relax about the thermal efficiency and instead prioritise switching out gas boilers for heat pumps, and building out renewable energy infrastructure. And so proceeds a tussle between the fabric-firsters and the fabric-laterers, or even neverers" "We can wring our hands while the fossil-invested reap the rewards, or we can work together to deploy the sensible, practical solutions we have now" Smith Mordak, CEO of UK Green Building Council (UKGBC) urges the sector to stop squabbling on decarbonisation and work together on practical solutions to present to government #ukhousing #netzero https://lnkd.in/e3e2xt3u
