A little #FunFriday share for our LinkedIn friends today! Earlier this week, some of our Back Office teams gathered behind our Commerce Rd HQ for a little office picnic, filled with laughter, camaraderie, and even a dunk tank challenge! 🎯 A big shout-out to our brave leaders—John West, Bill Yascko, CPA, Daisy Coates, & Kerri Fortner —who volunteered for a soaking good time! As you know, we believe in working hard to serve our members and community, but we also know how to enjoy ourselves and build strong, supportive teams. It's this blend of dedication and fun that makes Call Federal a great place to work. Check out some of the fun moments we captured! 📸 #TeamBuilding #OfficeFun #TopWorkplace

The last few weeks were full of holiday gatherings with our families, friends, and work colleagues. What better time to connect and reflect on the year? I’ve been reflecting on a special tradition woven into the fabric of PIMCO's corporate culture when I served as SVP of Global Corporate Citizenship and Executive Director of the PIMCO Foundation. It all started back in 2008 when PIMCO's CEO at the time, the one and only Bill Thompson, called me to say, “Let's do a huge food packing event and invite all our employees and their families.” After reaching out to a few potential partners in our community, Mark Lowry (one of THE most special people on this planet) with Community Action Partnership of Orange County's OC Food Bank said “YES” to this partnership. The annual “Share the Harvest” volunteer event was born. Year after year, on an early December morning, hundreds of people gathered in the underground garage at PIMCO’s global HQ, families and friends in tow, for a cause that connected us to our deeper purpose. From managing directors to coordinators, everyone sported the same t-shirt and stood shoulder to shoulder, doing something good for the community in which we lived. That work leveled the playing field and made us feel like we were all a part of something bigger. Then, that evening’s holiday party celebrated the impact of our CSR efforts through the year – hours given, lives touched, communities supported. It was woven into various elements of the party, from leadership’s talking points to the video that played on the big screen to meeting up with new friends we had made that morning while packing boxes. Absolutely, there’s a business case to be made for CSR. But in those moments, PIMCO employees all FELT the extraordinary ripple of goodwill and impact we made, collectively. That can’t be quantified in a P&L, but I’d argue it’s more important than anything you’d find in one. As we enter a new year, reflect on how you want to end it. How do you and your employees want to feel in December 2024...and what impact do you hope to celebrate? p.s. -- Share the Harvest pic from many years ago! All of us have grown a lot older since then. 😉 #corporatesocialresponsibility #corporatecitizenship #employeevolunteer #volunteerism #connection

I agree with this. Clarity is key for an effective and productive team.
Co-Founder of Historic & EVP at Masterworks ⚡️ Author of Culture Built My Brand ⚡️ Host of The Future Nonprofit podcast ⚡️ Leveraging brand strategy, clarity, and culture to fuel human & social good.
I've talked with 3 nonprofits this week about low morale, lack of trust, and unhealthy company culture. Each of them either don't have job descriptions or have not updated them in over 4 years. It's difficult (if not impossible) to sustain organizational trust without organizational clarity. If someone is blurry on their role, responsibility, authority, or contribution...it will ultimately undermine their ability to build or sustain trust. This is especially true if they're good at their job. Company culture doesn't change overnight, but giving your staff clarity on whether or not they're making a positive difference is an amazing place to begin.

The Chief of Staff role is so rewarding because it's so diverse and allows me to touch every part of evolvedMD's business. This week I was able to lead projects in branding, communications, investor relations, coaching, employee experience, and a bit of community engagement and had the privilege of: 🖋 [Executive Branding] Supporting my work bestie, Kim Ho, writing her first LinkedIn article. If you haven't done so already, check out the amazing piece here: https://lnkd.in/gjSjscyA 📝 [Communications] Penning an epic (if I do say so myself) advocacy letter calling for more support for mental health services while briefing our team in Utah on patient messaging. 👨💼[Corporate Development] Partnering with Erik Osland on initiatives to set us up for near- and long-term success. 👥 [Coaching] Hosting a skip-level lunch with Evan Sakrison on career and professional development. 💻 [Employee Experience] Facilitating a webinar with Thanasi Panagiotakopoulos, CEPA, MSF, BFA for our managers on personal finance. 🚘[Community] Volunteering at one of my favorite events of the year, the PHOENIX MENS ARTS COUNCIL Copperstate 1000 vintage car show and route (preview in the pic below). Understanding that to keep leaders motivated they have to spend time on things that make them happy outside of the office (check out my recent post on this here: https://lnkd.in/gsdN-7GU), spending today giving my time (and the rest of this weekend) is recharging my battery for next week. Make it a great weekend.

Global Head of DEI & Social Impact at Wayfair | Executive Champion for DEI in Commercial, Talent, and Product
Just wrapped up at eTail™ for the second year in a row (they must love my insights—or my outfits 💃🏿). Honored to return! Here’s a quick recap of my fireside chat with the lovely Shelley E. Kohan 1. Vendor Inclusion: Build strong partnerships by being flexible with your terms. If your target partners aren’t biting, ask for feedback, listen, iterate. 2. Community Impact: Support local. Whether it’s your caterer or a nonprofit, getting involved at the neighborhood level makes a real difference. 3. Start Where You Are: Inclusion and impact isn’t just for leadership. Spot a product gap? See a chance to source locally? Take action. Even a team volunteer day can create change. 🗣️ To my retail peeps - inclusion and impact start with all of us (yes, even you new hires 🙂). Let’s keep pushing the needle forward, one step at a time. Need help making an impact? Reach out! I’m happy to share some best practices.

“A family business is a shared journey of passion, legacy and unity.” – Unknown Some might call it the American dream. Coming to America, working hard, finding a niche, creating a life with drive and passion, starting a business and turning it into a family legacy. However, running a family business is not just a dream. It’s hours and hours of working even though the workday is over. It’s working holidays and weekends. It’s missing your own family events to achieve a goal for your family. It’s delaying your own gains in the name of growing a business that continues to thrive in changing environments. It’s love. It’s sweat. It’s tears. And, it’s resounding pride and joy. It’s your family. And just imagine doing it for 100 years! The Corropolese Family has done just that. From humble beginnings with a desire to make it in America, focused on quality products and making customers happy, this family business continues to thrive 5 generations later. Making tomato pie a staple at just about any event and putting the Philadelphia region on the map as the best around, Corropolese Bakery, also focuses on giving back and supporting its community. They understand that they’re only as strong as their community. This is what makes small family-owned businesses the cornerstone of our communities and economy. Lower Providence Living wants to wish a very happy 100th Anniversary to Corropolese Bakery!! We are honored to have you as a part of our community and our magazine. We wish you many more years of continued success. #lowerprovidenceliving #august2024 #community #BringingPeopleTogether #gettoknowyourneighbors #supportlocal #supportlocalbusinesses

Or perhaps you’ve been tasked with facilitating a volunteer activity that’s been met with disinterest from your employee base? If you’re familiar with scenarios such as these, chances are you’ve encountered a volunteer program designed without stakeholder engagement. So, how do you go about actually engaging your stakeholders?
