Christian T.-''Dark Matters: A Book of Poetry'' This is a poignant debut collection that explores the inevitability of human suffering and the importance of embracing life's challenges. Rather than succumbing to despair, the poems encourage readers to gain strength and resilience from their experiences, suggesting that moments of gloom can serve as opportunities for growth and understanding. Through evocative language and imagery, Christian T. invites readers to dance in the rain of their struggles, fostering a sense of connection and shared experience in the face of darkness. This collection is designed to remind us that we are not alone in our suffering, and that through vulnerability and community, we can find solace and hope. "Dark Matters" ultimately champions the power of poetry to illuminate the human condition and bring people together in their shared battles against life's adversities.

PRAISE FOR Sonder by Issa M. Lewis Melissa (Issa) Lewis Sonder goes beyond the title’s definition: “the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own.” Poems in this moving collection are addressed to inhabitants of a house, a graveyard or a photograph. However, they don’t just describe, but embody the subject of each piece. In “After the photo of unnamed Romany boy” Lewis writes, “You carried a cello as a pack,/ so much bigger than ragtag you. /The weight of the ravaged world on your back…” Poem XVI “after the Falling Man photo” and poem XVIII “after the death of 3-year old Alan Kurdi” are powerful and brilliantly written. This may be a short book, but it carries poetic weight. –Lori Desrosiers, Lori Desrosiers Keeping Planes in the Air (Salmon Poetry) In Sonder, Issa Lewis impeccably and poignantly stitches together the lives of the living to the lives of the dead creating a bridge to their humanness. Her work is a call to reverence for ancestors known and unknown that “A ghost is an anchor: a silvered breath /of what came before, a bookmark.” When we lose the ability to connect with others’ suffering and joy, both the living and the dead, we are not able to throw off “The weight of the ravaged world on your (our) back(s).” Sonder is the stupa bell calling us to repair our relationships, to connect with community, and to honor people’s individual stories as “A name is a constellation, guiding us /through our minutiae.” In a time of over-wrought technology, disconnectedness, and AI, these poignant lyrics remind us that an ultimate duty of being alive is to look and see that “…their face is our face, their feet /our feet. What sweetness /to see their wanderings.” –Tyve Neese Please share/repost #flpauthor #preorder #AwesomeCoverArt #read #poems #literature #poetry #life #humanness #relationships

Give me 5 minutes of your time to read this... I want you to imagine this in the context of your personal heartaches and struggles. Imagine what verbalising them like this, would feel like... 𝘜𝘯𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 So much of what we live goes on inside The diaries of grief, the tongue-tied aches Of unacknowledged love is no less real For having passed unsaid. What we conceal Is always more than what we dare confide. Think of the letters that we write our dead. Poems like this engage with our brains in a multi-sensory way, helping us process emotions! Dana Gioia lost his son. H used poetry to express himself! ----------------------------------------------- Hi I'm John Hope you're ok! At Camena we use poetry as a multi-sensory experience. (We help your workforce develop) If that sounds interesting read more here... ------------------------------------------------

We launched a PODCAST! With our friend and peer Heather Luna of keduzi. Our podcast "Morning Tinto" features short (15- to 30-minute) episodes about events that have just happened prior to recording, through our lenses of oppression and resistance. Our hope is to record and post on the same day, to be as freshly-brewed as possible. (Don’t get use started on our misuse of a Moka pot…) ** EPISODE 1: The Trump Administration’s attacks on DEI ** ** Search for "Morning Tinto" on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, or Amazon Music Recorded 23 January, we discuss the Trump Administration’s explicit targeting of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within and outside of the U.S. Federal Government. We read sections of the White House Executive Order titled “Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing,” signed just this Tuesday, that explicitly require making “a list of all”: * “agency or department DEI, DEIA, or ‘environmental justice’ positions, committees, programs, services, activities, budgets, and expenditures in existence on November 4, 2024 . . .” * “Federal contractors who have provided DEI training or DEI training materials to agency or department employees; and” * “Federal grantees who received Federal funding to provide or advance DEI, DEIA, or ‘environmental justice’ programs, services, or activities since January 20, 2021.” We contrast abstract complaints about “wokeness” against specific harms suffered by specific people due to racism.
