Froedtert Health is building a new patient tower and expanding its campus to better serve the hospital's diverse communities by optimizing existing spaces and creating more capacity for patient care. During the Business Opportunity Session at #MarketplaceWI, Isaac Larson, Executive Director of Enterprise Facility Services, said the tower project's main driver is removing barriers preventing patients from accessing health care services. He said the project also creates opportunities to work with minority-owned contractors.

At Regent Park Community Health Centre, we’re proud to be part of the DET OHT’s Interprofessional Primary Care Team (IPCT) Program. Recently, Tara Bradford (ICFHT) and our own Maryam Ebrahimpour shared insights on the early stages of implementation planning for this transformative initiative. This program brings together four primary care providers—Inner City Family Health Team, RPCHC, St. Michael’s Academic Family Health Team, and Sherbourne Health—to better integrate team-based primary care with community services. Amid a wave of rural hospital closures, a few small towns are building new hospitals. Pinedale, WY, and Pittsburg, KS, are among a handful of communities that will open new hospitals, defying a trend that has seen nearly 150 rural facilities close or convert to smaller operations since 2010. Typically, new health facility construction is limited to small urgent care centers, stand-alone EDs or replacements for old hospitals. According to KFF Health News, some of the new construction is paid for by the USDA’s rural Community Facilities Program. Our Technical Assistance and Services Center has just released two new guides — the Critical Access Hospital Financial Sustainability Guide, and Strategies for Critical Access Hospitals to Address Outmigration — which are designed to help critical access hospitals (#CAHs) and rural health clinics (#RHCs) improve their financial stability. 🏥 The Critical Access Hospital Financial Sustainability Guide provides hospital leaders and state Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility (Flex) Program staff with practical, non-technical strategies for addressing ongoing financial challenges.
