The state of MA is on the net-zero move! Speaking to Boston Globe Media reporter Rachel Umansky-Castro about $60M federal funding for Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority to go electric, Jared Schnader, senior director CALSTART underscored how the range on electric buses gives local governments more reason for excitement: “Now we’re seeing buses go over 280 miles, without having to charge.” As the Governor herself noted, the state’s goal of operating a zero-emission fleet by 2040 is “essential” in order to tackle the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions: transportation. Way to go, Massachusetts for improving lives by addressing climate change and air pollution! Read more: https://bit.ly/3y0e1Ie

Again in the USA ---- A new program to help people decarbonize the transport sector is announced this is on top of the local states like California that actively issue grants to companies to replace high diesel emissions like transport refrigeration units. "The EPA awarded $1.18 billion to programs in the transportation sector: Charging infrastructure for zero-emission freight trucks along hundreds of miles on some of the nation's busiest freight traffic corridors. Incentives to deploy 6,200 light-duty electric vehicles; 1,750 electric trucks; 4,270 electric chargers; 18 electric locomotives; and 28,000 bicycles including bikeshares and electric bikes. Measures that would reduce up to 3 billion vehicle-miles-traveled (VMT)" Department for Energy Security and Net Zero Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs

🌿 Big news on the green front! The Council has just agreed on new rules to beef up #CO2emission standards for heavy-duty vehicles. Here are the key takeaways: 1️⃣ Striking the Balance: The Council's decision balances the ambition of reducing the climate impact of heavy-duty vehicles with flexibility for member states in regulation implementation. It emphasizes innovation and enhances the EU's competitiveness in the sector. 2️⃣ Zero-Emission Goals: An exciting move toward cleaner transport! Urban buses are targeted for 100% #ZeroEmission status by 2035, with an interim goal of 85% by 2030. However, inter-urban buses are exempted from this target. 3️⃣ Zero-emission target for urban buses: The proposed amendment introduces a 100% zero-emission target for urban buses by 2035, while setting an intermediate target of 85% for this category by 2030. Ekoenergetyka is all set to support this journey towards emission reduction with DC charging solutions for buses. 🚌🔌 Check out the details on these new CO2 emission standards 👇 https://lnkd.in/dAu7jUNi #GreenTransport #ClimateAction

This #ScotClimateWeek, we want to celebrate the amazing things happening in Scotland that are seeking to reduce emissions and have a positive impact on our global climate. Did you know that the global shipping industry currently makes up 2-3% of the world's total carbon emissions? So we were very excited earlier this year when Smart Green Shipping chose Scotland to develop its innovative, digitally enabled windsail technology FastRig, which aims to transform the way many commercial ships are powered, ultimately reducing greenhouse gas emissions 💚 A retractable, recyclable, rigid wing sail designed for retrofitting on commercial vessels such as bulkers and tankers, FastRig harnesses wind power. It provides additional propulsion, significantly cutting fuel consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and operating costs 💙 Scotland’s extensive maritime infrastructure, talent and innovative spirit were just some of the deciding factors to locate its emission reduction technology business here. Diane Gilpin, CEO, Smart Green Shipping, said: "There’s a reason that Smart Green Shipping made Scotland its home and that is because there are no other countries that support innovative climate technology companies at an early stage like Scotland." What gets clean air and good jobs? Zero. Emission.Vehicles. For years environmental advocates have urged California to take action on climate change and improve air pollution- now it’s time to reap the benefits and continue to implement high standards on our quality of life. It won’t be easy but here’s what we are getting it done: ✅ TRU electrification ✅ Advanced Clean Trucks ✅ South Coast Warhouse ISR ☑️ Advanced Clean Cars II ☑️ Advanced Clean Fleets ☑️ School Bus Electrification And more more wins on the way- I am honored to have a whole movement of volunteers, industry innovators, labor unions, and government decision makers to work with on the right side of history.

Understand the impact of your vote this November and the impact that it could have on our industry. The current administration wants to highly focus on climate change & EV even for commercial vehicles. I do believe there certainly is an application for EV in our space and in the yard work and short-haul lanes. But it clearly is not an application that is ready for the bulk of transportation at this point. Going to be an interesting few years coming up with emission guideline mandates. https://lnkd.in/dKGxAsVi
