I was invited to comment for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in Albanian on the upcoming European elections and the ramifications of the rise of the far-right in Europe for the Western Balkans. For those who don't speak Albanian, a few points from my commentary: The upcoming elections will measure the EU pulse and likely re-confirm the current popularity of the right-wing ideologies. The rise of the far-right parties will most probably be reflected in the composition of the new European Parliament, but more important is whether they (or some of them) will become a new majority and participate/decide about the future European Commission or will remain a considerable minority within the Parliament. This will determine the composition of the Commission, and the parliament's work in the coming years. Yet, even if the far-right party can't constitute a majority in the European parliament, their rise indicates that they can shape the EU agenda if they continue with gains at the national level. Since the individual member states shape the work of the EU and the approach to enlargement, a further rise of the far-right, particularly France and Germany, may have more profound ramifications for the future of the EU and the enlargement process. This trajectory may affect the Serbia-Kosovo dialog as well. Due to similar ideologies, many European far-right politicians find the current Serbian government closer to their political views and are prone to support it. Belgrade expects that if the administration in the US changes after the November Presidential elections, a new/old American administration may also lean more towards Serbia. In such a scenario, I can't exclude the return of the idea of the territorial exchange between Kosovo and Serbia. Thank you Valona Tela for the opportunity.

Far wrong vs. far right, which is considered anything right of Trotsky! 🤔 Germany is reckoning the with the results of regional elections that have questioning whether German history is rearing its ugly head. For the first time since Nazi rule, right-wing extremists have won a regional election in Germany - in the small eastern state of Thuringia. The Alternative for Germany party (AfD) also came in second place in neighboring Saxony. Other populists also snapped up votes by promising to stop immigration and arms deliveries to Ukraine. So what does this mean for the future of Europe's largest economy, and its relation to the world?

Incredible! Fortunately, there is a third, hybrid, option! Although this Knesset vote represents unwillingness to coexist, chances on a two state solution of which a main part is flattened, were anyway minimal. However, this implies that Netanyahu indirectly bombed the Jewish state. There is absolutely no future for Israel (and similarly for Palestine) based on the narrative of its radicals..... anyone who wants to claim the entire territory exclusively for themselves will only find eternal war, violence and destruction, whereas the moderates at both sides hold the key to peace by non-violent interaction and dialog as equals. This is the only path to replace fear and hatred by trust and solidarity and to solve the conflict forever. The only way out of the conflict is thus to learn to coexist as equals and to share the country as one union. There is in principle space for all. Practically, it means in my opinion to go back to the times of Canaan and establish (democratic) autonomous communities and spread them over the entire territory of Canaan. These autonomous communities can coexist and come together in two confederations of communities, an Israeli and a Palestinian one, sharing the country as a union. There is space for all cultural identities this way. Currently, such scenario seems very far fetched, but, the Israelis and Palestinians belong to Canaan and nobody outside is waiting for another exodus of any of the two. www.canaan.community & www.pax.ngo

israel does whatever it wants - get used to it. 🎯 israel is supported by its colonies - the US, UK and EU. Many people in israel and its colonies are unaware of this reality. They still believe that they enjoy some democratic rights that their governments will support or at least tolerate. Nothing is further from the truth. Democracy is dead. The illusion of democracy is fading. We (The People) have no rights. 🎯 The Rulers / Governments of israel and its colonies - the US, UK and EU, do exactly what they want, at present that means sacrificing Palestinians but in the future, it will include sacrificing dissenters in the colonies too. Better get ready! 🎯 The UN and ICJ are on vacation. I think this vacation is a permanent one. They'll say otherwise but what have they achieved since last October? 🎯 Palestine is on its own. Even its fellow arab nations (with some noble exceptions) have abandoned it. Move on, there is nothing to see here.
