As spring is here, the bats are crackin' and the grass is getting greener. I can still feel that feeling of things anew and the beginning of a fresh start this time of year in spring training. After that long winter's rest, many of us need a fresh new look at our plans for the future and how they are aligned with what we are doing. If you feel like this is a prefect time to take a look at where your planning is, give me a call. I would love to chat about how I can help. #FirstCommand #GetSquaredAway

We are passionate about making sure we teach all our learners about #WaterSafety & the risk of drowning at every opportunity ... often in a fun way, at a level they will understand, that makes the key messages memorable! The #WorldDrowningPreventionDay motto is "Anyone can drown, No one should" and as drowning is one of the leading causes of death in under 24 year olds we are proud to be able to educate our learners about both the potential dangers & how to survive if they do find themselves in a challenging situation. It is so important everyone understands, at a minimum, what #ColdWaterShock is & how it can be prevented, and the power of knowing how to #FloatToLive ... Do you? One of the core things we teach our learners, as early as possible, is how to float on their back & why a star float is so important... especially if they were to find themselves in danger / unexpectedly in water. ... just like one of our demonstration dolls is doing here 😊 #DrowningPrevention #WDPD #DrowningPreventionDay Royal Life Saving Society UK - RLSS UK #CoreAquaticSkills #AquaticSkills #LearnToSwim #SwimSchool #LoveWaterSafely #WaterConfidence #FloatToLive RNLI STA (Swimming Teachers' Association)

In the early years of this country's founding, the average teenager had more survival skills than 90% of Americans living today. Learning the basics of shelter building, starting a fire, and water purification can make a world of difference, and this video from the guys at Dirty Civillian does an excellent job covering these simple subjects. You may need more time or money to invest in a whole myriad of camping gear, but starting small and acquiring different equipment as you build your knowledge base is a great way to become proficient in bushcraft and other survival skills. Besides the three subjects covered in this video, what other survival aspects should be basic knowledge for the average American?
