People in UX probably cannot compute this. Yep, outside of UX, "qualitative researchers" will know how to do statistical analyses. It's only in UX that we say "numbers is quant". In the real world, what makes it "quant" or "qual" is NOT whether or not you use numbers. EVERYONE uses numbers. You are quant or qual based on the types of data you deal with... if you analyze qualitative data (yes, using stats) then that makes you a qualitative researcher. 😉 #research

What a terrific question to explore with Elliot Swartz!
We know that a large amount of lactate will be produced by cultivating cells, ~300kg for every ton of cultivated meat produced, by some estimates. Can this be valorized to offset the carbon footprint of production and/or provide a meaningful revenue stream for manufacturers? I'm hiring a remote, U.S.-based research fellow to dive into this question, compiling data on the current state of the art and modeling potential scenarios for lactate production and recovery. Applicants should be familiar with cultivated meat production and published LCA/TEA studies. Experience with LCA methodology and allocation preferred. Leader in AI & Business Ethics | Corporate Affairs for Innovations and Regulations in Cell Based Meat (CBM)
The The Good Food Institute (GFI) is offering a position as a Research Fellow focused on investigating the process of lactate valorization in the production of cultivated meat. This role involves a deep dive into evaluating how feasible it is to #recycle lactate, which is a byproduct of producing cultivated meat, and understanding its potential effects. The work will encompass a thorough methodology, including reviewing existing literature, conducting interviews with key industry figures, analysing data, and using modelling techniques to estimate the amount of lactate that can be recovered. This will help assess its impact on both the environmental footprint and the revenue possibilities for those producing cultivated meat. Under the mentorship of Elliot Swartz, the Principal Scientist at GFI, the selected candidate will make a meaningful contribution towards making cultivated meat production more sustainable and economically viable. Their findings are expected to shed light on ways to lessen environmental damages and unveil new avenues for profit, in line with GFI's goal of promoting a global food system that is sustainable and fair. This position calls for candidates who have a strong foundation in science, evidenced by a Ph.D. or comparable experience, and who are deeply committed to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion that GFI upholds, particularly in the context of advancing alternative protein sources. #cultivatedmeat #circulareconomy #innovation #technology
