This cycle, two Democratic practitioners are taking up the mantle of expanding the Congressional map with an effort aimed at bucking up candidates who have the potential to put districts in play if only they had more resources. Why the Congressional Battleground Map Needs to Expand

Facts to consider that are indisputable. Read this and it'll give you insight into how Ms. Harris voted. The same is available for Mr. Trump in the form of Executive Orders although I do believe Mr. Trump's positions are pretty clear publicly. Get the facts for yourself and decide who you want to vote for on your own terms. Ignore the noise and spin. https://lnkd.in/gN7XArb3

I spent time after work this week at the Festival of Trees being held at the Mtn America Expo Center in Sandy, Utah where grassroots volunteers from Restore Utah's State Flag and the PAC Are You Listening Yet were gathering signatures for the Ballot Initiative that will challenge SB31 that changed Utah State Flag. The majority of people working on this effort aren’t lobbyist, they’re not professional signature gatherers, politicians, or professionals with careers in the political arena. They’re just everyday people who feel that Utah Legislators and the Governor’s Office aren’t genuinely listening to voters. Here were my take aways from my time down there volunteering with them. These people are working hard on this and are really motivated. They’re ready, willing, and able to do what needs to be done to achieve the objective. They’re not afraid to hear the word No. They just keep pushing forward and continue to talk to every single person that passes by. Every sales manager I’ve ever worked for would love to have employees as determined to close the deal as these people are. It’s inspiring. The majority of Utah Voters who the volunteers come into contact with agree with the idea that this was not handled correctly by the Utah Legislature and it needed to be decided by Voters. It should not have been implemented the way it was. Most of those who don’t agree with the Ballot Initiative effort say things like, “I like the new flag!”. It doesn’t do any good to debate these people, they have their heels dug in. But, there are those who will have a real conversation with you and once you point out some things to consider like the fiscal impact of this change, the idea that there wasn’t ever really a massive push by the citizens of the state to change the flag, and that like on lots of issues these days many everyday people feel like our elected officials just aren’t listening to them. When you talk anout these things most people are really very willing to sign the Ballot Initiative. With what I saw this last week, with the way local media is starting to cover the effort, and with the time still left to gather signatures there is absolutely no reason the Ballot Initiative won’t succeed. People just need to continue to take packets and get signatures. It’s a lot like a business. Do the work and reap the benefits. If you’d like to help in this effort you can go to www.restoreutahsflag.com to learn more. Or, feel free to contact me directly. The Festival of Trees was great. There are more events coming up and a lot of volunteers are also hitting up their local neighborhoods so those people can sign the Ballot Initiative too. The winning formula for this effort is this, Packets and Signatures. Packets and Signatures.

Nicole Schlinger: Voter ID | Persuasion | GOTV | Text Messaging | Patch Through Calls | Telephone Townhalls
“With an election always just around the corner, members of Congress are uncomfortable taking actions that are not popular with voters back home. And they’re eager to support issues and causes that have—or appear to have—popular support among their constituents.” When it comes to #PublicAffairs, it's no longer good enough to just have a powerful lobbying team. You need to find ways to leverage grassroots advocates to accomplish your goals. "An aide to Democrat Mike Doyle of Pennsylvania contacted Google’s lobbying office with a simple plea: 'Can you tell people to stop calling our office?'" Our team at CampaignHQ knows how to use the phone - patch through calls, text messages, telephone townhalls, and issue impact pages - to help you mobilize the grassroots to win your public affairs campaign. https://lnkd.in/duTqHsm8

Although political campaigns seek to raise the most money, a bigger issue is being wise on how that money is spent. The Hillary Clinton campaign, for instance, profoundly underinvested in social media and overspent on traditional television, which belies the movement of people from conventional television to streaming services. Few campaigns spend money on voter registration, although logic (and evidence) suggests it is much more resource-efficient to register people likely to support a particular candidate than to use persuasion to try and change the views of others. Campaigns also tend to underspend early, when narratives are initially established, and also frequently overinvest in traditional political consultants and underinvest in expertise in AI and social psychology. Few campaigns rely much on evidence or social science. Hopefully the Biden campaign will not make all of these mistakes, although the early signs are not promising. Just as the case for companies, the issue is not just the quantity of resources but how effectively they are deployed. Political campaigns, and companies, would do well to emphasize evidence and evidence-based management in their decision making. #evidencebasedpractice #evidence #politics #campaigns #biden #clinton #voterregistration

Political action committees (PACs) are a staple of the American political system. They play a significant role in supporting candidates, influencing legislative agendas, and swaying public opinion on critical issues. The question, however, is whether anyone can start a PAC. The easy answer is “Yes,” but there are some nuances that you’ll have to navigate along the way. Read what you need to know: https://lnkd.in/eGKaS7BP #nowyouknow #PACs #2024election

Solidaire is proud to join the Election Day to Every Day campaign mobilizing funders to maintain resources for power-building organizations beyond election day. Regardless of the election’s outcome, we know that the work of building an inclusive, multi-racial democracy has a long arc. Anti-democracy forces don’t defund their infrastructure after every election cycle and we shouldn’t either. Our movement leaders need to know that you'll be supporting them in Q1 of next year and beyond. And they need help ensuring the safety, security, and wellbeing of their teams in an increasingly dangerous environment. The Election Day to Every Day campaign outlines 4 steps funders can take now. We know actions will look different for each of us. Some may make all of our financial commitments throughout the year, and others may streamline renewal processes. We will be challenging ourselves and sharing ideas with each other. You can join the call to action around these commitments by becoming a campaign signatory and by sending this message to others in your network. Learn more at https://buff.ly/4eqSXdL

TL;DR: Don't miss your opportunity to vote by not registering! The voter registration deadline in Indiana is Oct. 7. Check your state's deadline here: https://lnkd.in/gMyF8rxy. In addition to registering to vote ourselves, Glick Philanthropies compiled some resources to help us reach our broader communities too (linked in the shared post below). In case it sparks ideas, here are a few actions I've taken lately or plan to take leading up to Oct. 7. 🏘 In partnership with Common Cause, we hosted training webinars for Glick team members who work at apartment communities across the country. We talked about why it's important to vote, some common misconceptions, and how to help residents register & create a voting plan. 💌 I'm spending next Thursday evening with Women4Change Indiana & Women's Fund of Central Indiana writing postcards notifying Hoosier women about their voting rights and key dates. Want to join me? Anyone is welcome. 💜 A friend hangout (hey Girl Gang 🌸) is making it out of the group chat next weekend. It's always a safe, supportive, and fun space to talk about what's important to us - from the small things (what to wear for Halloween) to the big things (this election!!!). I'm excited to talk with them about voting and what we can do to use our voices for good. How are you encouraging registration and voting in your communities? I'm not an expert, but I've had the opportunity to listen to a lot of experts recently. If you have any questions about the process or available resources, reach out and I'm happy to try to help (or find someone who can).
Voting is one of the most powerful ways to have a say in the issues that affect your community. Whether it’s local elections, statewide decisions, or national policies, every vote helps shape the future. The General Election will take place on November 5. Whether you want to make sure you’re ready to vote or you want to help your community prepare, we’ve compiled nonpartisan resources to help. Thank you to ACLU of Indiana, Women4Change Indiana, Common Cause, League of Women Voters, and others for your civic engagement leadership. #Vote #YourVoteYourVoice #MakingDemocracyWork
