Well done

Do you celebrate your wins? I encourage you to. Sarah and I have a tradition – we celebrate our wins – from small milestones to bigger achievements. Here’s why this is such a wonderful thing to do, that you'll never regret... So often, the year feels like a 12-month cycle of goal achievement. We set goals, work hard, monitor progress, get to the last quarter, start stressing, and end up with a result at the end. Do we celebrate or sulk? That feels like way too much pressure to me, and it doesn’t give credit to all the good things that happen along the way. It’s also gives to much power to arbitrary goals. We love what we do. We’re committed it all for the long haul. Every milestone, every win, every step of progress – it’s all something to celebrate. What good thing happened recently? Great! It's a win. Go have a nice dinner to celebrate. You’ll be so glad you did.

You may have a seen a post I shared a few weeks ago receiving an award and wondering why it took me a year to celebrate that win publicly (this photo is from that same event). Upon reflection, I've realized that my hesitance to celebrate is part of a larger pattern. I have never stopped to really celebrate my wins.  I am guilty of constantly moving on to the next thing dismissing past achievements as if they were mere steps on an endless escalator. The win, once it's in the rearview mirror, somehow loses its sheen because it's "in the past." I cannot be the only one who is like this.  Am I?  Help me out here.  But I am coming to understand that celebrating our achievements isn't about living in the past; it's about recognizing the journey and the growth that comes with each milestone. Many of us, myself included, are wired to look forward, to chase the horizon. There's always a new goal, a new challenge. And while that drive is valuable, it's equally important to pause, look back, and honour how far we've come. Our wins, big or small, are not just trophies to collect but reminders of our resilience, hard work, and the support we've had along the way. Even in writing this I know I will still find it challenging to do, so, I'm making a commitment to not only chase the future but to also honour the present and respect the past. I endeavour to celebrate my wins, to savour the moments of success, and to appreciate the journey because the future is never guaranteed. Will you join me in this practice if you have battled this same malady?

Ask any sales or marketing professional… Launching new products and building new territories is not easy. Over a year ago my husband, Dean Peaple , joined this company to launch a new division of window coverings. Through operations and production challenges, changes in leadership and the minimal marketing support common with ‘startups’ - my husband never gave up! I have watched him be tenacious and creative, using common sense, guerilla tactics, and teamwork- always finding a way. I know the road is long, - and I admire my husbands patience and perseverance. When you work hard and see a reward with a Win like this- you have to celebrate! Most of us are so busy doing the work we do- we forget to take time to celebrate the wins. It’s as easy as 123… 1. Take a moment to reflect on your wins 2. Be proud of your accomplishments, 3. Share your gratitude with those that helped you achieve your goals. Celebrate the Wins!

It’s award season and I’ll admit I’ve hosted more award ceremonies than I’ve won (awards) in my career. True story. Maybe it wasn’t my time. Maybe I wasn’t that good. Maybe I just came up short. Regardless, I never allowed “not winning” an award to define me. I never allowed it to define my potential. I never allowed it to dictate my impact. I never allowed it to steal my focus or joy. Listen, we are all very happy for our coworkers that are nominated and for those that won, it’s important to acknowledge there’s a group out there that are feeling … missed. This post is for them. I want to encourage you and say, awards are nice, but don’t let “not getting one”, define you. Your reward is the daily impact you make with your team. The smile you put on your resident’s face. The hard work you put in daily, to put food on your table. That’s the reward. Sure, trophy recognition is nice, but it fades. Like everything. So don’t focus on the “awards.” Or the lack of them. Focus on the work. The impact. Recognition will come at the right time, in the right way. So when your coworker wins the award you felt you should have won, be genuinely happy for them. Let it go. When you feel like being salty, don’t. Be thankful. Don’t let the lack of “crystal”, steal your joy this time of year. Have you ever wondered why agencies shower their agents with awards? 🏆 "Rookie of the Year" 🏆 "Top 10 in Sales Volume" 🏆 "Chairman’s Club, Diamond, President’s Club" 🥴 It feels a lot like a corporate pizza party, doesn’t it? Work tirelessly to build someone else’s brand… and your reward? A plaque on the wall and a few claps from your colleagues. It’s the same old game: recognition as a cheap substitute for real fulfilment. But ask yourself—will anyone remember you for being "Top 6 in Sales"? Or will they remember you for leading a brand that’s yours—something with purpose, something real? Forget the trophies. Build a legacy that lasts.

The one on the left is me from April 2024 and the one on the right is me from Jan 2025. Its the exact same shirt and the exact same trouser (got them re-tailored by the brand) I was contemplating on whether I should post this picture and whether I should write a post about this at all. I felt while the achievement could be minimal and might not mean anything in the larger scheme of things, we should still celebrate such smaller wins regularly. We should also talk openly about our smaller achievements. We all speak about taking small steps, building on smaller wins and achievements and how every small step leads to gradual progress and towards greater achievements. However, most of us post only about our ‘greater achievements’ and not about the smaller steps that took us there! I also believe I am one of the fortunate few who has not had to go through a lot of tough times till now. But I am sure that there are peers/colleagues/friends out there who might be silently going through a tough phase and someone else’s small achievement might just be the right amount of push and motivation for them to not give up and to continue on the right path.

The secret to having an easy life whilst doing hard things👇 ... is to celebrate every win! There is nothing wrong with having an easy life, but you are led to believe there is. What are you celebrating today? More specifically, what part of you are you celebrating? You see, you are so conditioned to celebrate wins! Big wins like a new job, new house 🏠 new baby 👶 a promotion 😁 that you forget to celebrate the very reason, the very thing the wins are here in the first place!🤯😮💥 Yes, YOU! You forget to celebrate yourself, your very being, all the great things you bring to this world by just being YOU. because your self-image (ironically created by other people's limitations🙄) is not where you think you need to be! Listen, you are exactly where you need to be right now!🥰 Celebrate every moment, every win... and dare I say every loss because even that creates new space for what needs to be in your life right now! When you see that, you'll feel much better and your life will become much easier! You can do hard things, for sure, but it doesn't mean you have to make your life hard and suffer! I am great at cheering others on, but I am the worst at celebrating my own wins. As soon as I close one deal, I think about the next one. If this sounds like you, here's your reminder to celebrate your small victories every once in a while - for your own peace of mind. You don't have to complete your magnum opus to deserve your celebration. If you want to become better at social skills at work, celebrate how well you handled an important meeting. If you want to progress in your career, celebrate a tricky situation that you navigated well. If you want to get closer to your yearly target, just celebrate every small win! Celebrate getting over a tough week or month or receiving praise from that one client or colleague. Pausing to take the time to reflect on how far you have come will make your work so much more enjoyable. Make yourself accountable by stating your objectives to yourself and celebrating your victories in function of your objectives.
