The Power of the Sphere. The Sphere with its continuous double curvature, is the strongest shape in nature. It provides the largest volume with the least surface area. Simply the most efficient you can have on a wave energy converter of this type. In earlier generations of the technology, we were limited to less optimal shapes due to the manufacturing technology available. Moving up to commercial scale, we have taken a big step in industrializing wave energy, and one key part of this is our new mobile factory concept for producing Spheric composite hulls. Thanks to our team of composite experts in Stockholm and Viana do Castelo we can now build these strong and lightweight structures in large volumes. Fibers are wound onto the C4 hull layer by layer, using a fully automated additive process. Delivering wave energy farms, we will be moving these mobile factory cells to our customer sites, to produce the number of buoy hulls needed for the project, before moving the cells over to the next customer site. This saves cost and carbon footprint by eliminating transport while stimulating local job and industry.
