With extensive experience in siting, engagement, land, and environmental services, Canacre is well-equipped to support developers and utilities in collaboratively interconnecting projects. In these collaborations we need to consider: Landowner Fatigue: Our teams need to understand that landowners are feeling the development pressures and burdens from early stage projects. Upgrades to distribution lines: While seemingly minor, can cause major changes or impacts to land use in agricultural and residential settings. The development process is still relatively unknown to communities: Education is key to bringing the understanding to an amicable position. Reach out to learn more about our team and the transformational projects we're supporting. #transmission #renewableenergy #development #environment #environmentalservices #energyindustry #careers #canacre #infrastructure #rightofway #projects #northamerica #wearequanta #renewableenergy #sustainabledevelopment Quanta Services, Inc.

In an important milestone, South Harz Potash Ltd (ASX:SHP) has submitted a comprehensive spatial planning application for its flagship Ohmgebirge Potash Development in Germany, through its subsidiary Südharz Kali GmbH. A Spatial Planning procedure is a fundamental step in the approval process for all infrastructure and industrial projects in Germany that occupy more than 10 hectares of surface area. The application, crafted in partnership with ERM, a global environmental and permitting consultancy, includes an explanatory report, an environmental impact study, a preliminary species protection assessment and a spatial impact assessment document. The focus is on a brownfield development strategy for Ohmgebirge, leveraging the Bernterode shaft infrastructure owned by NDHE/DEUSA International GmbH, as outlined in a memorandum of understanding dated November 2, 2023. A Lunch and learn with the amazing team at Civil & Environmental Consultants (CEC) in Naperville yesterday was just the ticket ✔ presenting on one of my favorite subjects, Establishing vegetation to close out Coal ash reclamation, Landfill, and Mining projects. 🗻 In the Engineering specs/plans I've seen among many, CEC has stood out to me as a progressive engineering firm that proactively supports great ideas in design and new technologies. I think using better technologies and methods to quickly close out these legacy sites and turn them into a community asset, habitat, or recreation areas is part of the greener future we all deserve. Connecting with knowledgeable partners and experts and putting a great plan in motion is the best way to make it a reality. Interested in a presentation for your office? Let's do lunch! 🌞 Electrical Compound with 1,000 Helical Piles, Cleve Hill, Graveney – UK The Cleve Hill Solar Farm, Europe's largest solar energy project situated on the north Kent coast of the United Kingdom, required robust foundation solutions to support its infrastructure. Helicasol, specializing in optimized solar farm foundations, took on the challenge of designing, manufacturing and installing over 1,000 Finnish-made piles for the Electrical Compound connected to the solar farm. The project faced various challenges, including tricky soil conditions with soft clay extending up to 8-10 meters before reaching denser layers. Environmental concerns, such as minimizing disturbance to breeding bird species and addressing the historical risk of unexploded bombs from World War II, added complexity to the project. Helicasol's engineers came up with customized Helical Piles to support various structures, from switchrooms to transformer stations and floodgate structures. By using Helical Piles to support the concrete slab, we significantly reduced the need for concrete and reinforcing steel, speeding up the construction process while mitigating environmental impact and costs. This led to a remarkable 50% reduction in excavation work, spoil removal, and concrete usage, all thanks to the utilization of Helical Piles. In the summer of 2023, two installation teams were dispatched from Finland to collaborate with the local installation company, FGS Pilcher, in executing the project. Despite the challenging soil conditions and environmental considerations, Helical Piles proved to be the optimal solution for the job. The swift and noise-free installation process not only ensured rapid completion but also minimized disruption to wildlife. This was especially critical given the site's proximity to a breeding area for diverse species. Our engineering solutions, combined with Finnish manufacturing quality, provide a dependable and efficient foundation option for the energy sector. Helical Pile technology extends beyond supporting the frames and panels of solar farms, offering solutions for constructing essential surrounding infrastructure such as Electrical Compounds and BESS (Battery Energy Storage System). A big shoutout to Gallagher Group Ltd, the head contractor of the project, for their unwavering support throughout. Additionally, the close collaboration with FGS Pilcher and UKHelix played a crucial role in the successful execution of the project. Together, we've paved the way for a greener, more sustainable energy future. 🌱 #renewableenergy #solarpower #helicalpiles #sustainableconstruction #electricalengineering #foundations #bess

People who reside in a specific geographic area, have embraced traditional lifestyles, and share similar socio-cultural beliefs are referred to as indigenous peoples. One of the first groups to have a direct impact from project activities is indigenous peoples. The involvement of indigenous peoples, as well as their needs and objectives, need to be established for a sustainable project, and activities need to be tailored accordingly. The project can be effective, control risks, adhere to international standards, and respect human rights by actively including indigenous peoples and incorporating their thoughts and suggestions. Many member organizations of WeConservePA are united in their opposition to this project. We always like to remind folks that conservationist opposition to development projects is not blanket opposition to development. Conservationists oppose the development of *high-conservation-value* land. "Conserve the best, develop the rest," as WeConservePA policy council member Sean Kenny says (Sean is also quoted here in this piece, by the way). This proposed project would displace scores of residents and create an industrialized flood zone in the middle of a designated high-conservation-value land area. Alternative energy projects are a genuinely worthwhile idea, but not at such great cost. We stand with our members on the firm soil of their wise arguments against this project. https://lnkd.in/ehntzDfW

High Strength Woven Geotextile Solution Accelerates Programme by 2 Months! Gaining access to rural areas over very soft ground is a common problem faced when it comes to building wind farms. Out of various options put forwards to the client, a solution utilising high strength woven geotextiles was chosen due to being the most economical, and environmentally friendly solution – key to the clients requirements. Reducing the environmental impact, whilst reducing the community impact through the reduction of imported fill, was a high priority, meaning the ability to utilise site won Class 1C granular fill, resulted in no imported fill being required. The high strength woven geotextiles versatility, meant that the haul road was able to be constructed directly over the vegetated layer that had a CBR of 0.5%, allowing for minimal peat excavation. This, paired with the ease of installing the product, meant that the haul road construction accelerated by 2 months, leading to the turbine bases to be constructed way-ahead of schedule. Upon completion, this East Ayrshire wind farm, will see 15 turbines constructed which will provide power to 68,000 homes.
