I think one of the things we don't talk about enough is how technology is changing farming. Like, with AI, farmers can predict the weather better and make seeds that can handle tough climates. I find it really cool how companies like ClimateAi are helping farmers around the world. This article shows why we need to use more of the Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, especially in farming, to make sure we can grow food sustainably for everyone. I recently read a book titled "The Fourth Industrial Revolution" by Klaus Schwab, and it was a good read. I'll recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about how technology is shaping our world. #WEF24 #SpecialMeeting24 #EmergingTechnologies

I took part in Food Tech Congress in Warsaw. It was a very insightful event, with over 800 participants from more than 40 countries. For the first time I was part of the jury for start ups competition. I was voting in two tracks, New Proteins and Food Waste. Such companies I had a chance to meet during the event are part of the food the business at which I do not look at so closely everyday. I saw over 30 pitches in total and all of them brought a good value that I believe could be very useful in the food value chains. I really liked there were many B2B proposals that were addressing problems of big business value. Congratulations to all the winners! My personal favorites were: - RDI - produces irrigation and fertigation systems that allow water use that is self-regulated by plants, they already have impressive results even in desert environments, systems are undersurfaced and multiseasonal; - Perfat Technologies - develop and produces value added fat solutions for the food industry, they transform vegetable oils into solid fats that could e.g. replace butter in food industry, their processes are purely physical, very impressive; - Mimica - they make Bump, which is a temperature-sensitive cap or tag providing an accurate indication of freshness, so you do not need assume your worst-case scenario for expiration, I see it as something which could materially improve economics of fresh or chilled meat; - Rebread - adress bread waste, I like the value added offered which is in-house developed product technology which is then implemented for customers (could be e.g. bakeries or retail) with and advisory project

One of the agenda's of the 2030 SDG goals is 'ZERO HUNGER'. This means up until now, food insecurity and availability is still on the rise. If we must conquer this global challenge, then we all have to expand our horizon in Agriculture. How? - The solution is not far fetched, it's AgTech( Agricultural technology and innovations). Some countries have been able to make mind blowing technologies in Agriculture while others are still not embracing the trend. In countries where farmers no longer have to apply water, fertilizers, and pesticides uniformly across entire fields. Instead, they can use the minimum quantities required and target very specific areas, or even treat individual plants differently. They have; 1) Very high crop productivity 2) Decreased cost of production which in turn sustains food security because prices of food is low and affordable.. 3) Reduced impact on the ecosystem 4) Less pollution of water bodies( rivers, streams, dam) when runoff occurs. In the long run, we can enjoy massive production with limited resources, healthy foods and an environmentally and biologically safe environment.
