In the The Globe and Mail, Barbara Zvan and Barbara Stymiest CM, FCPA urge the Canadian Sustainability Standards Board (CSSB) to resist calls from companies and industry associations to weaken standards set by the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) as it considers how to adopt sustainability standards in Canada. "Without complete and comparable disclosures," they write, "investors and lenders see risk and make more cautious investments, smaller investments, or don't invest at all." They say the CSSB should now "move to implement the ISSB standards without significant modifications, as proposed in March." Read it here: https://lnkd.in/gua9FDmD

The Government of Canada launched the Standard on the Disclosure of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and the Setting of Reduction Targets to further its goal of reducing its contributions to climate change. The Standard took effect on April 1, 2023. The objective of the Standard is to incentivize government suppliers issued procurement instruments valued over $25 million to disclose their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and set reduction targets. This Standard is important because the federal government is one of the largest customers for goods and services in Canada. It has the ability to influence demand, drive innovation, create jobs, and encourage suppliers to adopt more sustainable practices. https://lnkd.in/gQguTYCf
