📣 The State of Australia’s Regions 2024 report is out! This report from the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, sheds light on the crucial role #RegionalAustralia plays in our nation’s prosperity. “A significant societal transformation is underway in Australia. More people are choosing a life in the regions, and metropolitan to regional relocations remain almost 12% above the pre-COVID average. With all those additional people calling regional Australia home, we must now ensure that they are able to access the services they need to lead safe, productive, fulfilling lives and contribute to the nation’s success” - Liz Ritchie. 👏 Kudos to Ministers Catherine King and Kristy McBain MP for championing this report's return, underscoring the integral role regions play in shaping Australia's future. One thing is clear, collaboration is key – not only by all three levels of government, but also by industry, the not-for-profit sector, and communities themselves to ensure #RegionalAustralia reaches its undeniable potential! #RegionalAustralia #FutureProsperity #CommunityCollaboration #RebalanceTheNation

"Caribbean Interconnectivity: A Key Solution in a Challenging Global Landscape In the wake of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the resulting disruptions to global supply chain logistics, it is becoming increasingly clear that regional interconnectivity is taking center stage as a critical strategy for economic resilience and growth. Against this backdrop, the recent announcement of a new ferry service between Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, and Barbados marks a significant step towards fostering stronger ties and collaboration within the Caribbean region. The establishment of this ferry service not only represents a tangible commitment to regional cooperation but also opens up compelling opportunities for job sharing and the utilization of advanced skill sets. With hybrid work modalities gaining prominence in today's evolving work environment, the ability to tap into the talent and expertise across these interconnected countries will undoubtedly drive innovation and productivity. Furthermore, the economic benefits of this initiative extend to the citizenry, as it facilitates greater integration of our economies, allowing for mutually beneficial trade and commerce. By leveraging each other's strengths and resources, we can create a more robust and sustainable foundation for growth, providing meaningful opportunities for businesses and individuals alike. As we navigate the complexities of a rapidly changing global landscape, it is clear that harnessing the power of interconnectivity within the Caribbean region is not just advantageous but imperative. By fostering stronger ties, embracing hybrid work models, and facilitating job sharing, we can create a resilient and thriving ecosystem that propels us forward together. I am excited about the potential that this new ferry service holds for our region, and I look forward to witnessing the positive impact it will have on our interconnected economies and communities. Let's seize this opportunity to strengthen our bonds, drive economic prosperity, and chart a path towards a brighter future for the Caribbean. #CaribbeanInterconnectivity #RegionalCollaboration #EconomicResilience #HybridWorkModels #GlobalTrade"

The Coalition for a Better Future released a scorecard with targets set across the three pillars to attain long-term, inclusive and sustainable growth. Living Better ➡️ Results show we remain far from our targets, and the pace of progress is slow. Winning Globally ➡️ Business spending on research and development continues to stagnate and lag behind our peers. Growing Sustainably ➡️ We need to ensure our policy path is sustainable and not focused on short-term results that threaten better outcomes in the future. We have a lot of work ahead of us to achieve sustainable economic growth in Canada. Here's an opportunity to share your input. https://lnkd.in/gVPwc2mk Read the full report: https://lnkd.in/gR3n8YCs

Opportunity to contribute to a stakeholder-led policy paper on a National Growth Strategy (for Canada). Please contact Tim Dutton if you have “worked on designing and implementing a "Growth Strategy" - think the Saskatchewan Growth Plan, Canada's Economic Strategy Tables, a City/Regional-level strategy, or an industry-led strategy. If you have, or in general want to chat economic growth, regional innovation policy, or place-based policies”
Hello! Exciting news - I'm currently working on a policy paper on the need for a National Growth Strategy! But here's the twist: I'm arguing that a national strategy must be driven locally by businesses working with organizations, governments, and workers to leverage the unique strengths of their regions. The goal? To grow highly innovative industries and growth strategies tailored to communities across Canada. Want to help? I would love to speak with anyone who has worked on designing and implementing a "Growth Strategy" - think the Saskatchewan Growth Plan, Canada's Economic Strategy Tables, a City/Regional-level strategy, or an industry-led strategy. If you have, or in general want to chat economic growth, regional innovation policy, or place-based policies, I would love to talk and learn about your experience to help inform my thinking. Thank you Sunil Johal and the CSA Group Public Policy Centre for the opportunity to write this! There are many ways for Canada to reignite its economic engine. In addition to the usual suspects, empowering communities to identify local strengths and make strategic choices is the key to building lasting competitive advantages. Innovation is ultimately a team-sport and we must bring entrepreneurs and workers more into the policy-making process to be successful at growth nationally and locally, and consistently over time. https://lnkd.in/ghfrKPs4

This week, I was in #Tallahassee, Florida where I met with Canada's Ambassador to the United States, Kirsten Hillman, and Sylvia Cesaratto, Canada's Consul General in Miami, for the inauguration of the new Canada-Florida Economic Impact Report! 🍁 The visit aimed to deepen understanding of Florida's political and economic dynamics, while also highlighting the importance of fostering robust connections with Canada, and thereby Ontario, with key stakeholders in the state. 💼💡 #Canada #Ontario #Florida #EconomicPartnership Thanks for great and fruitful discussion, Florida Secretary of Commerce , J. Alex Kelly and Deputy Secretary TJ Villamil, Secretary at the Agency for Health Care Administration, Jason Weida, Secretary of State, Cord Byrd, Florida Chamber of Commerce, Alix Miller President and CEO of Florida Trucking Association , Ginger Delegal, Executive Director at Florida Association of Counties and Lila Jaber, Founder of Florida's Women in Energy Leadership Forum.
