🌞 Exciting Solar News from Illinois! 🌎 Homeowners in Illinois are making a significant shift to solar power, driven by global warming concerns and attractive incentives. Residential solar is experiencing a record-breaking year, with 170 megawatts added in the first three quarters, surpassing the 125 megawatts for the entire year of 2022. Illinois residents are capitalizing on state and federal incentives, making solar adoption more accessible. The 2022 Inflation Reduction Act offers a 30% tax credit, and the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act provides a rebate of approximately 30%, making the decision to go solar financially appealing. According to data from ComEd and Ameren, a record-breaking 12,600 residential rooftop solar systems were connected in the first 11 months of 2023, compared to 10,400 in 2022 and a mere 98 in 2013. Homeowners shared that the incentives, covering about 60% of the cost, played a crucial role in their decision to embrace solar. The potential for long-term savings on electric bills, coupled with the environmental benefits, has led to a surge in interest. Despite challenges faced by the solar industry in 2021, the return of government incentives has revitalized rooftop solar installations. Let's celebrate the positive impact of renewable energy in Illinois! ☀️🏡 #solarpowered #solarinstallation #solarenergy #cleanenergytransition #solarrooftop #rooftopsolar #illinois #solarpower #renewableenergy #climateaction #sustainableliving

What people don't often consider when installing solar is the impact solar has on house prices. Prospective homeowners are becoming increasingly interested in houses with good EPC ratings and 'green' features as a whole. Research by Admiral [Green Appeal - Admiral] reported that solar increases a home's value by an average of 25%. Making it the biggest boost in property value among 'green' features. We would note however that we would typically see this top out at higher value properties at around £75,000 - £100,000.

We're glad that community solar programs like New York's let us bring the meaningful savings to affordable housing residents like we're doing now with our enrollment campaign in NYC with Nuveen, a TIAA company. But not every state, or even federal community solar policy, allows community solar's cost savings to be accessed to those in all kinds of affordable housing—notably the population that these policies were designed to help most through the energy transition. In this article in Solar Power World, Perch's CEO Bruce Stewart argues that the states and the federal government must open the gate and allow all types of affordable housing, specifically master-metered, to access the benefits that are available to tens of thousands already. Until master-metered complexes are included, Perch will continue to advocate for better community solar access for these communities, particularly because their energy bills get as high as 14% of that household's income. For energy burdened households, the benefit community solar offers is substantial. #communitysolar #climate #energy #affordablehousing #environmentaljustice #cleanenergy #renewables #solar #accessibility

What are the benefits of Solar on #ADUs? 🎯 Energy Savings: Solar panels can significantly reduce electricity bills. With the rising cost of electricity, having a solar system can lead to substantial savings in the long run. 🎯 Increased Property Value: Studies have shown that homes equipped with solar panels have higher property values compared to those without. 🎯 Environmental Impact: Solar energy reduces reliance on fossil fuels, leading to a decrease in greenhouse gas emissions. This is particularly important in California, which aims to be carbon-neutral by 2045. 🎯 Incentives: Homeowners can benefit from federal tax credits, state incentives, and local rebates when installing solar panels.
