Want to give a kick-ass talk in a hurry? So did I. There it was. How to (remotely) win friends and influence people, was accepted for DDD Adelaide 2023. I hovered over “Confirm Participation”, and checked the date again. Six weeks, for a 45-minute talk slot. Fuck it. Fast forward 6 weeks and I’ve given a conference talk that I’m beyond proud of, that engaged the audience, and I survived to tell the tale. 6 weeks might seem a long time, but with 4 little humans including a 5-month-old running around the place, I’m a little pressed for time. So what made this easier? What made this harder (apart from, you know …. kids)? How can you give a kick-ass talk of your own?
