Myth vs. Fact: Marrow Donation Edition 𝐌𝐘𝐓𝐇: Donation is very painful. 𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐓: Donation is less painful than you probably think. Discomfort and side effects vary, but it's nothing like what you see on TV. For PBSC (Peripheral Blood Stem Cell) donation, you might experience headaches, nausea, and tiredness—mainly from the daily filgrastim shots leading up to donation. For marrow donation, there's no pain during the procedure, but you may feel a bit sore afterward.
