Throwback to May 2021
COVID had left me without a job, and with an agency background, there weren’t many openings. Switching domains that late in my career felt like a risky leap into the unknown. But hey, sometimes life surprises you in the most unexpected ways!
Enter Nishtha Taposh, a remarkable leader and my soon-to-be manager at Medanta, who took a chance on me. Despite my *zero* credentials in healthcare (imagine someone referring to an oncologist as a “cancer doctor”), Nishtha believed I could pull it off. She could have just given me the offer and moved on, but no, she went above and beyond.
For the next month, she was not just a boss—she was a coach, a guide, and sometimes even a therapist. From learning the nitty-gritty of hospital operations to understanding how to navigate the corporate corridors without stepping on toes, she made sure I didn’t just survive but thrive.
Flash forward to last Friday at the ET HealthcareLeadership Summit by ETHealthWorld, and I had the pleasure of reconnecting with my mentor. A lot has changed since those early days—I’m in a better place both professionally and personally—but what hasn’t changed is her unwavering support and genuine concern for my growth.
Did we discuss how tech is revolutionizing healthcare? Absolutely. Did we touch on how Takeda is transforming treatment accessibility or how Apollo Hospitals is redefining patient experience? You bet! But, as always, the real conversation revolved around something much deeper—family, mindfulness, and, of course, our mutual love for life-changing cups of coffee.
Thank you, Nishtha Taposh, for being a beacon of hope in a time when being transactional was the easy way out. Thank you for investing in my growth and showing how empathy can truly transform lives!
Here’s to mentors who make us more than just professionals—they make us better humans.
