Every year, Candid's team gets extra PTO to volunteer at a nonprofit. Jessica Coughlin, director of business development at Candid, used her volunteer time at Pine Street Inn, a nonprofit that seeks to end homelessness.

At S.R. Snodgrass, we understand the value that nonprofit organizations, and specifically, Community Action and Head Start Agencies, deliver to the communities they serve. Since the Economic Opportunity Act was passed in 1964, Community Action Agencies (CAA) have been charged with fighting the war against poverty. Their wide variety of programs has continued to expand and evolve over the years, providing the necessary resources to empower those in need, creating positive impacts to all those served by Community Action. Nonprofits like West Houston Assistance Ministries remain essential in the creation of safety nets that catch families falling into poverty while also providing vital support through financial assistance, housing, food, and advocacy. Our CEO, Rev. Dr. Mark Brown emphasizes that addressing poverty requires a collective effort: "It's only when those with resources make the decision to care for the 'least of these' that we can begin to combat rising poverty rates. "Let's unite—government, nonprofits, and communities—to create sustainable solutions for those in need. Help us care for 'the least of these' as we are encouraged to in the Bible. Make it possible for WHAM to afford to provide the strong wrap-around program model we offer to meet the many different needs of those we help. Looking to make a meaningful impact on Giving Tuesday? Please consider giving to Arlington Thrive, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive, holistic support to families in need of financial, early childhood, and personalized services to foster long term self-sufficiency. As Treasurer, I see first hand the increasing need and limited funding. Over 51% of South Arlington residents can not afford basic needs due to inflation and reduced safety net programs. Arlington's home ownership rate is 42% compared to a 73% national average, making many more households vulnerable to eviction. Homelessness is up 33% in Arlington. Every little bit goes a long way. Only $100 keeps the heat on for a family struggling to pay utility bills. $250 provides a senior with medications, ensuring their health and well-being. $500 covers a security deposit or a month of rental support to prevent homelessness. Do you want to help unlock stability for a family in Arlington this season? Please join me in donating here - https://lnkd.in/eWXwKEDM #UnlockStability #OneGiftOneFamily #ThriveTogether

Invisible Borders, Visible Needs Vulnerability doesn’t recognize borders, but too often, resources do. We’ve seen firsthand how families and individuals outside inner-city lines face unique challenges—often invisible to the systems meant to help them. Low-income families, miniroties, senior citizens, young people, and other vulnerable groups living in suburban and rural areas often go without the support they need simply because their struggles aren’t in the spotlight. This is unacceptable. As a nonprofit, we’ve committed to being a voice for the overlooked and underserved in every corner of our community we call Ohio. Join us as we push for equity everywhere, not just where it’s most visible. #EquityEverywhere #SupportTheOverlooked #NonprofitLeadership

Nonprofits have the opportunity to collaborate with various local entities such as businesses, schools, churches, and organizations to tackle community needs effectively. For instance, a nonprofit dedicated to aiding the homeless could establish partnerships with local shelters, food banks, and vocational training agencies. Synergistic collaborations like these can significantly enhance the impact and reach of the nonprofit's mission in serving the community.

Placer County is partnering with local nonprofit AMI Housing to apply for a competitive Homekey+ Program grant from the state to help tackle homelessness. The initiative, if awarded, would bring up to $20 million in funding to expand permanent supportive housing through the purchase and renovation of a motel building in unincorporated Auburn. The county expects to submit its grant application in the next several weeks. An overview of the proposal: https://lnkd.in/gQzV8i9G More detailed FAQs: https://lnkd.in/gU_AvSUS

Honestly, can we trust the numbers? 🧮 In this video, we’re exploring point-in-time (PIT) counts - an attempt to determine the number of people experiencing homelessness on a single night over the entire state of California. We’re examining data the counts have provided over the years, looking at how the PIT counts work and why they might not be as optimised and accurate as they could be (yet!). The script was largely based on our blog post “New Counts of Homelessness and More YIMBY vs NIMBY” by Rohan Montgomery. In November, Social4Good partnered with Carpenter's Shelter to bring joy to children, teens, and adults experiencing homelessness. Carpenter's Shelter supports people in our community experiencing or at risk of becoming homeless achieve sustainable independence through shelter, housing placement, guidance, education, and advocacy. Social4Good's project donated over $6,000 in toys and gift cards for teens and adults. In addition, members will volunteer at the Holiday Marketplace to help parents shop and wrap. Meghan Cole of Carpenter's Shelter expressed her organization's deep appreciation for the work Social4Good does. "Social4Good's project brings joy and hope to our youngest residents during the holiday season, allowing them to experience the magic of opening presents thoughtfully chosen and lovingly wrapped by their parents. Partnerships like this reflect the care, dignity, and compassion at the core of Carpenter's Shelter's mission. Even a small act of kindness, like a gift on Christmas morning, can remind our residents that they are supported by their community and never alone on their journey to lasting independence," stated Cole.
