I am excited to share another milestone! But why "Understanding the Child Better"? Is it related to IT? Is it required for your job applications? Are you shifting to another field of work? My answer is NO. I just felt it was time to explore and learn new things outside my comfort zone, way outside my comfort zone 😃 . Take a leap and enjoy the journey. This course is about theoretical perspectives on children and child development and children’s situation, with a focus on children in need of special protection. It aims to develop a better understanding of children as the foundation for the development and conduct of effective and relevant activities and programs in support of child rights protection and promotion. Source: https://model.upou.edu.ph/ With over a decade of advocating for child education (shoutout to World Vision PH) and being a mother myself, this course has helped me embrace children's differences and appreciate all the people who nurture them. Truly, it's important to continue learning and growing, even outside of our chosen careers.

Understanding and supporting our children with learning differences can be quite a journey. I recently came across some insights on advocating for kids with dyscalculia, and it struck a chord. As someone who has seen students struggle in math, the challenges they face are not just academic but deeply emotional too. It's crucial to foster an environment where children feel confident in their abilities. One of the key points highlighted was the importance of collaboration with teachers and professionals, which can make a significant difference in a child's educational experience. Taking the initiative to communicate openly ensures that the child's needs are addressed in a supportive manner. What resonated with me the most is that advocacy is not just about pushing for change; it's about empowering our children to express their own needs and feelings. Encouraging them to share their experiences helps build their self-advocacy skills, which are invaluable as they grow. If you're navigating these challenges or have insights of your own, let's connect. What has worked for you in advocating for your child or students? https://lnkd.in/eZUts_AU

“focus on the reasons behind the behavior and not the behavior itself.” Understanding a child's behavior requires a deeper exploration of their history and emotions. The NTDC guides foster, adoptive, and kinship parents to look beyond surface-level behaviors, encouraging them to seek the underlying reasons. Explore how the NTDC curriculum meets this principle! https://lnkd.in/ecvYRs3j

The journey of raising a child with special needs is unique for every family, often accompanied by triumphs and challenges. As educators, we have the opportunity to be more than just teachers; we can be allies, understanding partners, and supporters in this journey. Recognizing parents' daily lives, struggles, and victories is crucial in forming a partnership that transcends traditional teacher-student dynamics. At Distinctive Method Interventions, LLC, we advocate for a collaborative approach, where educators and parents work hand-in-hand to support the child’s learning and growth. This partnership is built on open communication, mutual respect, and, most importantly, understanding and compassion for the experiences of parents navigating the special needs education system. Let's strengthen this partnership. Together our voices can inspire change and promote a deeper connection between families and educators. We can create a more inclusive and empathetic educational environment for children with special needs.

The Image of the Child in Early Education In early childhood education, the way we view children affects how we teach and care for them. Here's how we think about children in Ontario's early years education: ➡ Children are seen as smart, capable, and full of potential. ➡ They actively take part in their learning and development instead of just being taught. ➡ Every child is unique, with their strengths, interests, and ways of seeing the world. ➡ Children help build knowledge, think deeply, and solve problems. ➡ They grow and learn at their own pace, shaped by their families, communities, and cultures. This view means that we respect children's rights, celebrate their differences, and recognize their ability to shape their learning. Educators create spaces and experiences that encourage curiosity, independence, and growth in all areas of a child's development. By seeing children as capable and smart, educators work alongside them, designing learning environments and activities that support their natural learning abilities and make education a shared journey.
