Florida's #cannabislegalization campaign is making history! With a whopping $105.08 million raised, the battle over Amendment 3 has become the most expensive U.S. cannabis reform campaign since 2010. Supporters have amassed over $90 million in funding, with Trulieve leading the charge, contributing $82.89 million to the effort through the Smart & Safe Florida PAC. On the other side, opponents have raised $14.64 million, with Citadel CEO Ken Griffin donating $12 million to fight against the measure. #cannabisnews #cannabisindustry #cannabiscommunity

3 days until the opening of the 2024 NCGA Legislative session. Medical cannabis is on the table and the State has a $1 billion surplus to “rewrite” into the budget. This can be our year but not without your help. 5 days left on the fundraiser for the 2024 NC Cannabis legalization effort. Even if it’s just a donation of $1 instead of purchasing a hat, you’ll be helping to cover the cost of citizen activist lobbying days at the NCGA and other cannabis themed events to push for the bills passage. We’ve done this before. With your help, every bill I’ve lobbyied for on behalf of NC cannabis users has passed. We saved the hemp bill in the 11th hour by funding peaceful protest for a week straight, we got SB3 passed twice in the Senate and are bringing much needed regulations to the hemp industry in NC with HB564 to protect the THCA market. Session could be as short as 4 weeks so we’ve got to move fast. Please share or make a donation if you can #legalizeNC #legalizeit #ncpol #cannabiscommunity #cannabisindustry

Kansas remains among the minority of states that have not yet legalized some form of marijuana. Despite several bills for its legalization being considered, none are set to pass in this legislative session. The emphasis for lawmakers lies in passing a bill that is more than just legislation; it has to be suitable and beneficial. This raises an important question - what constitutes a good marijuana bill? This query will be a key topic during the National Weed Day online roundtable on April 20. The focus will be on creating a medical marijuana bill best suited for Kansas' African-American community. Moderated by Community Voice Editor-in-Chief Bonita Gooch, the panel includes Kansas state Rep. Ford Carr, state senator and CBD shop owner Mary Ware, and Oklahoma-licensed grower and dispensary operator Curtis Whitten. Given these developments, it would be interesting to know your perspectives on the subject. How do you think the future of marijuana legislation should be shaped in Kansas?

Prescription Drug Costs impact a household (and those of us who are sandwiched-generation caregivers know this first-hand). According to a new report, "most adults 50 and older pay out-of-pocket for prescription drugs, with one-fifth having spent $1,000 or more on prescription drugs in the last year. Notably, annual out-of-pocket spending on prescription drugs is consistent regardless of age group." Read more here: Prescription Drug Costs Are a Burden for Older Adults (aarp.org)

This is such a fascinating read from Marc Gunther in The Chronicle of Philanthropy on the history of philanthropic involvement in the 50-year long battle to legalize cannabis in the US. A really powerful example of the role that philanthropy can play in taking issues from the margins to the mainstream over a long period of time (whatever your feelings about the actual issue itself). https://lnkd.in/emjmZ24K The 3 key lessons the article identifies about this kind of philanthropy are particularly interesting. Namely the importance of long-term, core-cost funding (as you would expect); the fact that having power concentrated in the hands of a few donors can actually be a strength at times (because it allows for clarity of strategy and speed of response); but also the recognition that concentration of power also comes at a cost because it tends to lead to a narrowing of perspective and a lack of understanding of the wider liver experience of issues (as happened here with the failure to place enough emphasis on using the proceeds of legalisation to address the past injustices of racially biased drug laws). Really thought-provoking stuff.

How will adults access cannabis? Read how Transform Drug Policy Foundation will be exploring the various options and what’s suitable as a model here in the UK 👇🏽💚
When talking about the future of legalised and regulated cannabis in the UK, we're often asked what will that look like? How will people access cannabis legally? We have been working on answering these questions for the past 20 years, working with key experts and stakeholders in the UK and across the world. Here we have summarised the key elements of how we envision cannabis being regulated here in the UK. As part of our newly launched work to #LegaliseUKCannabis we will be consulting with key voices in the UK to develop the details of this vision, and the steps to realising it before publishing a roadmap to UK cannabis regulation in the new year. 📣CALL TO ACTION: HEARING ON EXTENDING CANNABIS COMPASSION PROGRAMS ON APRIL 1 IN SACRAMENTO 🌿 Programs that enable cannabis companies to donate products to patients in need are facing expiration of their tax exemptions in 2025. It is necessary to pass a bill to extend this exemption in order to keep supplying patients who cannot pay for their medicine. AB 2555 (Quirk-Silva), which would extend the tax exemption on SB 34 cannabis donation programs, is facing a critical hearing in the Assembly Revenue and Tax committee. The hearing will take place at the State Capitol, Room 126 starting at 2:30 PM on Monday, April 1. Patients who rely on cannabis compassion programs are needed to attend the hearing and make their support for AB 2555 known to committee members. This will be in the form of brief “me too” testimony whereby people can approach the microphone, state their name and affiliation (if applicable), and say that they support the bill. If we can get a good number of patients in the hearing room, it will add a human face to issue. #compassion #cannabiscommunity #cannabislegislation #cannabislobbying #cannabisconsumersrights #cannabislaw

I recently received this message from a client on their journey with CBD, and it truly touched my heart: 'Thank you all for all of your support and encouragement on my journey with CBD. I wish you and all the carers a long and happy life.' Messages like these remind me of the impact we can have on others' lives through CBD and the power of support and positivity. Sometimes these messages come when we least expect them, but they always serve as a powerful reminder of the importance of our work. #CBD #homecare If you would like more information CBD or support, please visit: PSPA -
