Hello from 35k feet! Been off airplanes for a few weeks! Grateful to be on my way to the East coast to deliver a global keynote tomorrow for the rock stars at Endo. We'll be talking about collaboration. What's crazy is we are ALL expected to collaborate in some way that makes sense and yet....we've never really been taught in any way that makes sense. Think about how absolutely absurd that is. And we wonder why we experience so much conflict when working with others. It's like showing up in Italy speaking Japanese and getting twisted that people don't understand you or aren't doing what you want them to do. The amount of complexity is enormous. The asks of us are ambitious. We aren't really set up for success to interact with other human beings let alone "collaborate". Proof is in the daily conflict we experience that feels like a moving target depending on who is in the mix. Collaboration isn't just an activity. It's a process for leveraging the collective genius in a way that is aligned. That is a tall order when we line up against our own humanity driven biases and false narratives. Unless...you have the "mix moves" to make it simple. Btw..if you aren't aligned when working together you aren't collaborating. You are COOPERATING...that gives you the meeting after the meeting! At Banding People Together we've spent 15 years looking at this problem and leveraged the best research, science, data and the power of music to help people get in the collaborative groove in a way that amplifies their own authenticity to get stuff done faster.
