Forests are too often considered a renewable resource. While a tree can be cut and replanted, vital old growth forests, once harvested, take centuries to recover — if ever. They lose their ability to store carbon and support sensitive wildlife. Ancient and Endangered Forests, with their complex ecosystems, vast interconnected networks, and massive carbon warehouses are irreplaceable. Logging these forests undermines climate regulation and species preservation. Maintaining the status quo is no longer an option. By reducing our reliance on forest fibre and implementing and scaling recycled and low-impact alternatives for paper and packaging, we can protect half the world's vital forests by 2030. That’s right. The lumber is taken to make rayon, modal, and lyocell to produce home fashions and apparel. Just because they plant a seedling and sell us on the concept of a replacement forest in 20 years is not sustainable. The forest includes an ecosystem that becomes homeless after the trees are taken. Just saying what some do not have the courage to answer
